time for me to go

I live in the phase 2 buildings and have not really had a problem. My neighbors below me have at least 4 kids and they run around like heathens, block the paths etc and she (the mom) yells and screams at everyone else. It's to the point where I couldn't fart loud without her ranting and banging on my door about it, but a few visits from the police put her in check. (esp. when the police were taking my complaint and witnessed her banging on the floor because my baby was crawling across it).

Other things-I have recently started to see roaches. Like within the last 2 months and I saw a large orange creature with pinchers crawl under my dishwasher. I had a hellified problem with mice after I moved in, but I figured because it was still chock full of holes. The maintenance workers were too stupid to do anything, so I got some foam from home depot and went to town. I also filled every single gap with steel wool and then foamed over top of it and called the Health Department so many times they didn't even have to write my name and number down, they knew it by heart. After having the Health Department come out at least 3 times, AW got off their asses and fixed stuff up, but I still had to do more stuff (hence the orange creature). At least there aren't any mice, though I have a suspicion other folks do have mice because not everyone is anally neat like me. My neighbor even says that he scrounges through the trash for stuff and takes it to his apartment. Not very good.

Free cable has it's problems. Breathe too loud and the channels go out. Call the cable company to complain and no one answers. The first problem was that the kids were getting into the cable room and messing stuff up. Then, they were upgrading. I do recall when I first moved in we didn't have a decent channel for 2 months, but you get used to renting dvds.

Walls are paper thin. I can tell when my other neighbors are 'blazing up' or having sex or when she broke up with her boyfriend and he is banging on her door-which sounds like he's in my spot.

There are still screws and 'items' under the carpet from when I moved in and even though I complained, nothing was done, so I just learned how to avoid those spots.

Balcony is nice except when neighbors below smoke weed.

We had a 2 nice laundry rooms. One had cable and the other one was really nice and had a lock on the door. Well, the nice laundry room with the cable has been burned out like 2-3 times now, so the washing machines are crap. The other laundry room was destroyed. I used to stumble across the teenage boys selling or smoking weed in there. Then, mysteriously all the machines were destroyed and broken in to. So, now I know for a fact that one of the laundry rooms is open, but it doesn't have the nice big machine, like before and half the washing machines don't work. I took a marker and marked which ones didn't work-because calling the rental office did nothing. They basically want you to call the company yourself. (same with the cable when it goes out). The marking of the washing machines worked, but now, I just said forget it and do my laundry up the street.

Some latino families moved in and some are okay-hard working and such, there are some that are not. One has a boy that doesn't go to school, so one day I saw like 20 kids coming out of that apartment and the strong smell of weed knocked me, my kid and my boyfriend right out. Then, they decided they claimed the steps there and the other little gang claimed the next building, so needless to say a war is slow simmering. Since this family has moved in-mysterious graffiti has been popping up where there hadn't been any since before I moved in there. At least in the houses behind the apartments, one of the owners finally fixed his broken down gate because everyone-from crackheads to running kids, used to cut through.

The cops semi care. They hand out at the store, once in awhile and know that the kids just go up the street and hang out, with a lookout waving for when the cops leave. The store has been robbed something like 3 times in the last 2 years.

OH and then there was the time all the money orders were stolen and a whole bunch of buildings were served with those court letters. The entire side where I lived was served and the office was very nonchalant about it. It wasn't until I tried to move last year that I noticed it was still showing up and was the reason why I couldn't get the townhouse I wanted to rent. So, I had to call daily and that was remedied.

Birds take dumps all over the balconies and I have called 4-5 times to get my balcony power scrubbed. Nada. So, during the last rain storm, I just got a broom and swept it all over the side myself.

This place could be better if everyone made like they cared, but it won't be. There are too many kids with parents working, too many kids running around and too many parents that just don't care. They keep raising the rent and the service gets worse. But now it's like do you want to stay there and deal with these problems or try to find a place to move to. Most of the folks there moved out to buy houses, but I can't afford that right now. So, I'm looking for another place, somewhere way the hell away from Bladensburg.

Don't get me wrong, it's not completely awful, but with 2 killings, 3 car thefts (out of my parking area alone, which has deterred me from buying a car) and how the cabbies really don't want to drive up in any of the lots or push you out while they are doing a rolling stop...I think things could definitely use some improvement.

And office staff change about as often as I change my underwear. Some are nice, some are idiots and most completely don't care even after you pay your rent super early. I'm trying to figure out how to break my lease because this is a safety hazard and I just can't take it anymore. Hell, it took 2 years for them to put up lights and that was after 2 people died.

Be careful around the summer holidays, every year, it's a tradition for me to call 911 because some idiot decides to run down the street shooting guns in the air. Then and around New Years. Last word, watch out for the guys that wait til Friday night to fix their cars in the street until Sunday night and play their music so loud that you have to crank up your tv volume. Or you have to turn it up louder so as not to hear the kids in the pool and the ghetto blasters they have playing over there. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
