First things first: to all the ladies, the police and the thugs will try to be in your life if you live in this area. Why was my friend robbed at gun point right in front of my face one block away from the GG (gateway gardens)' If that's not bad enough, why do the BLADENSBURG police stay tryinta hassle you while you are only trying to make it through grad school' If you are thinkin' about your safety, think of somewhere else to live.

The Vermin:
The day I moved into Gateway Gardens marked the beginning of my most difficult living experience to date. I fogged, bomded, raided, roach trapped and exterminated that apartment so much, that it is a wonder I am still breathing. The people that lived there before my roommate and I moved in must have liked living with vermin, because they definitely allowed them to run rampant...and the gateway gardens office staff did nothing to rid the apartment of the problem before we moved in! Yall, we had to FIGHT for them to replace our stove and roach filled fridge. I lived for my first three weeks on takeout, because there was no way I was storing or cooking food in that kitchen. I mean roached were busting from the fridge seams!

The Office Staff:
I don't know if it just a corporate southern managemet thing, or just a gateway gardens thing, but at both levels, the personnel really try to go out of their way to make you feel like you are pestering/bothering them. Customer service is not a part of the Gateway Gardens office culture.

The Parking:
If you are generally a competitive person, and enjoy adrenaline rushes, and fierce competition, this parking situation may actually be an enjoyable part of your life. Imagine, you come home from a long day of work, followed by school, and you finally pull into the GG parking lot at last. After circling the lot at a creeping pace 5-6 times, a spot at the far end of the parking lot opens up. With no cars in sight, neither infront nor in back of you, you go in for the kill. OUT OF NOWHERE, three silently waiting cars turn on their blaring headlights, and mad-dash towards the spot like vultures. It's like living in an animal kingdom.

The Surroundings: not much. PG Plaza Mall...if you can call it a mall. it's cool, but only has the basics-old navy and a book store.

Yes, you are so right, I had a bad roach problem when I first moved in as well. Such a dissapointment!
