Some Good, Some Bad

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2006
I still live in Gateway Gardens because as a grad student it is convenient and affordable. I also have a big dog and it was extremely difficult to find a place where I could have my dog. I real all the other postings and agree with the people who have discussed problems.
Good
The rent is affordable. The size of the apartment is nice and I do like the balcony. Most of my neighbors are considerate and it is relatively quiet. I don't have any complaints about the maintenance, they always respond quickly and they do keep up the grounds nicely.
Parking-Bad
The parking is the worst. But it also depend on where you live in the complex. I live at the top of the hill by the elementary school and we have the smallest parking lot. During the week you can't find a parking spot after 7pm. On Sunday if you go out, you better be home by 4pm. And it is worse in the winter time. The management responds to the lack of parking by hiring a towing company to tow cars. I have been towed twice when I came home after 1am and had to pay 165 each time to get my car back. The tow truck drivers prowl the property at night with their light off to steal people's cars. On one occasion I slept in my car to keep it from being towed. I have seen cars towed with the lights flashing while the person whent to take groceries in the house. Then ther are residents who live alone but insist on keeping 3, 4 or even 5 cars here which make it difficult for everyone else.
Roaches
Whatever the exterminator is using only seems to increase the roach problem. I have better luck using roach baits. It is not just a problem of being dirty. It is a combination of old buildings and has a lot to do with the neighbors. When I first moved in the next door neighbors had the exterminator in every week and there were always roaches coming out of their apartment and crawling on their door. Since they moved out there has been a significant decrease in the roach problem.
Management and Office Staff-not so good
I do have a problem with the management, they need to provide customer training for their staff and remind them that the residents pay to live here and should not be treated as though they are allowing us a privilege.
