Why not to move into this dump...let me count the ways!!!

Let me start this off by saying that...I AM NOT A HATER. I am a young professional who paid his rent timely every month. But as I digress...Reasons not to move into this complex:
1.) If you enjoy having your account messed up on a bi-monthly basis, please...by all means move in. During my 4 year stay here, I saw 3 different management companies. By far, this management (the donaldson company) has been the best so far, but they still find new and interesting ways to mess up your account. Twice I recieved a Summons from PG District court stating that I had not paid my rent for the month when in fact the rent had been paid not only on time...but EARLY!!!!. When I went down to the rental office (an experience within itself...but more to come on that later) I was told, "We're sorry, it must have been a mistake. A mistake'' Thats cool if it happens once, but THREE TIMES IN A YEAR' Come on folks. One time, they sent delinquency summons' to all the residents of the 5802 building hahahhahahha. You should have seen the chaos in the rental office that day lol. Believe me, if you move in, your going to experience the same thing.
2.) The front office staff doesn't know anything and has power to do NOTHING past taking your rental payment, showing you an aparment, and passing a message to the property manager or assistant property manager who are there at best 2 times a week. Better yet, they look at you as if your inconvieniencing them when you have a problem or need information. One time I went to pay my rent and asked if I could get a copy of the check I was giving them (a wise suggestion for all of you to start doing). The rental lady looked at me and asked me..."What do you need a copy of the check for' A reciept should be good enought" WHATTTTTTT lol. Needless to say, she got her A$$ up and made me that copy. But the point is this...If you want to be treated like a second class citizen in YOUR OWN APARTMENT COMPLEX, this is the place for you.
3.) While the rent is moderatly priced, and the complex is undergoing extensive renovations...having matinence and various contractors in and out of your apartment 2 to 3 times a month begins to get old...FAST. If you dont mind having random contractors roaming around your apartment...Move in. If you dont mind comming home to find that theres a big gapping hole in your living room wall because they had to access a pipe and will not be back until next week to repair the hole...Move in. To further that point, I had a fully stocked bar in my apartment. I found it odd how my bottle of Patron seamed to get lower and lower each time I looked at it. It's safe to say you know what was happening.
4.) I would complain about the elevators, but they renovated all of the elevators. Prior to this, there was only one working elevator for 10 FLOORS OF RESIDENT!!! Even with the newley renovated elevators, if your moving in...they have no lock off key and you CAN NOT reserve the elevator for your move. This means that when you move in or out...your compeating with everyone else who lives in the building who need to use the elevator. And trust me, the elevator is always busy. TRUST ME ON THIS POINT...This minor point makes MOVING IN...AND OUT...A LIVING HELL!!!!. If you hire movers, this will easily double your cost as the movers will be wasting half of their time waiting on the elevator to be empty to move your stuff.
5.) Count on having your car vandalized at least twice a year. There's no need to go into detail here. Hoopty or new car...YOU WILL COME OUT TWICE A YEAR TO FIND YOUR WINDOW BUSTED...PERIOD!!!! Sad part about it is...THEY HAVE ARMED SECURITY GUARDS WHO PATROL THE GROUNDS. But they have to fit doing thier jobs in between sitting in there brokedown crown vics, propositioning the female residents, and/or walkin around in their fake me out SWAT team uniforms flexing on RESIDENTS who they think don't live in the building. A sheer wast of money...that comes out of your rent...if you ask me.
6.) Do you like Roaches' Nuff Said
7.) Would you like to stand huddled in the corner of the elevator because somebody pissed slam in the middle of it' Nuff Said on that one.
All in all, my experiences at Park Place Towers (now known as the Pheonix) was a pretty good one. The area has a mix of good and bad attributes, but what area dosnt. Most of my complaints have to do with the management, the building, and the staff. The other complaints are important and should be very crucial to you decision as to whether you move to a place or not. But with that said, you find most of this stuff in any apartment complex you move to.
The real question you need to ask yourself is this...
FOR $1,050 or more (depending on the size apartment)...DO I FEEL LIKE HAVING INFERIOR SERVICE FROM MY RENTAL STAFF (WHICH INCLUDES: RUDENESS, INCOMPENTANCE, LAYZNESS, and LIES) WHEN I COULD PAY THE SAME MONEY (OR A LITTLE BIT MORE) AND NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE BULL$H!T' (This is a rhetorical question folks)
I will leave you with this example of what I'm talkin about. I moved out of the comlex on 5/31/08. I should have recieved my security deposit back within 45 days. Of course 45 days comes and goes with no chcek. I called them and asked them why I had not recieved my check' After researching the matter, do you know what they told me...and I quote "It appears that the check was mailed to your old address." Why in the hell would you send the security deposit to the address of the appartment I just moved out of' (This is also a rhetorical question) That's what you get at the NEW...IMPROVED...PHEONIX APARTEMENTS.
Cheers

Well done on your review!!! I enjoyed reading it and is VERY informative to the new people moving in. I laughed at alot of what was said (although not funny when I lived there)was SOOO true. I moved out of this crazy home that they called an Apartment complex and it looks like things have not changed much except the color of the paint.

Sir, I've lived here during the 2002-2004 period. Then, the rental office staff wasn't that bad, but the complex surely was. BACK THEN, I had a 1br and I was paying on $610 a month. I used to think that was a deal, until someone hit my brand new car, maintenance always found a reason to enter my apartment without me being there, and I've experience the rental office saying I did not pay rent, but would have no knowledge when I took the notice downstairs to fuss. I was a resident of 5802 apt 601. I guess my floor was the lesser of the worst. I had a friend that lived in 5802 apt 802 and his floor was hood. You could smell weed, goat, trash, piss and sometimes s#it. I had a female friend who lived in 5800 and there was always a guy in the building trying to feel on females as they entered the building (some secured access huh).
The only plus about these apartments are the size and the location. Other than that, I would say move out of P.G. County all together. But this author of this review written hit everything dead on.
