Over 10 thefts in the last 2 months. Beware. Do NOT move here - management has been extremely unresponsive to the recent surge in burglaries. All they said to me was that I should be more mindful of how late I come back at night. I was livid at their remark and their audacity to assume when I return home. Please stay away from this place, especially if you have children.

Your remark is ridicules. How can management stop burgluries? What did you have in mind? Take a class in law enforcement and guard all apartments with guns drawn?? They have their hands tied. Short of sending out a letter to residents about the incidents (which will only cause people to b/c upset anyway) their is nothing else. Sure alarms can be installed...at a cost to the residents.... SO...BE MINDFUL.Idiot Crime is high around the DC/Baltimore area. Period. Don't like it...leave the state.

I think you are acting like a child. Management cannot stop theft. That is what they have police for. You should be mindful of your surroundings no matter where you are. You should have done the research on crime and the area itself before you decided to move. It is no one else's decision but your own.

Bullsh*t by your responses. Management needs to hire security for the area so that there residents can feel safe!

Management has had security on the property for the past 2 1/2 months however no one seems to acknowledge that. Or, what about the extra locks that are being installed on the entry doors. Its realy sad that people can only talk about the negative and never anything positive.

well obviously the reply here is from management...it is all about how you treat and talk to people. Clearly the reviewer is in the right and managment has taken being rude, unresponsive and now insulting to a new low. Thanks for the warning ....NOT INTERESTED! will keep looking

I appreciate the responses. I am currently living in DC with my parents in an upper-middle class area. However, to the left and right of the neighborhood is ??????hood??????. Crime in DC is not non-existent and neither is it anywhere else. I would be glad not to hear gun shoots, police sirens, and police search helicopters flying over the house. I think after reading all the reviews this will be somewhere I would move to. P.S. Crime is a problem in this area there is no way to get around it unless you want to live on an undiscovered island.

As previous people have mentioned , crime happens everywhere. What was not mentioned was that the property did have a patrol service during this time frame, installed additional locks on everyones door and tried to start a neighborhood watch. Safety should be everyones concern. If you take a serious look at crime statistics, you will find that Bowie is still one of the best places to live. This website really only serves as a sounding board for residents who are upset with the property, their staff and/or the management company. Its very rare that when someone has something good to say, they come to this site and display it. Please take all these blogs with a grain of salt. For more information about the property, I would gladly like to speak with you. Call us at 301-352-7300 Denise - Property Manager

You know, you're right. I really would WANT to live in a place surrounded by patrol service and additional locks on my door. Oh it must be normal to always be on the lookout for the next robbery attempt. Interestingly enough, I was refused the additional safety locks by management after the multiple robberies that occurred over the months. I believe I was told again that safety was my own concern and that I had to get them myself. I've been living at another apartment property in Bowie (yes I'm aware of the statistics - don't need to educate me on that) and I feel MUCH safer without the bull from mgmt.

Police cannot stop all crime, The management staff should circulate a notice advising residents to be aware of their surroundings. These are tough economic times and theft and property crime is on the rise. In my opinion, the management company should hire a security company to patrol the complex simply because they are a deterrant. Security personel observe and report so that in the event they encounter suspicious activity they can notify the proper authorities in a timely manner. Also it is important that residents take the necessary precautions to make themselves less invting to crime. You may come and go as you please but remember, people who like to commit crimes love the cover of darkness, if you don't need to come home that late then don't. The recent surge will subside, they don't last very long but to make yourself less inviting is key. Lock your car doors, don't leave windows open, Don't leave anything on the seats. Take your GPS in the house, Clean off the ring on your windhshield as thievs know that a ring on the windshield means GPS in the glove compartment. Walk in groups, get s big dog if you can. There are so many things to make yourself less of a target. Lastly, Notifying residents of the recent rash of burglaries is not going to cause panic, It will raise awareness. Police can't be everywhere, They need your help too... Call if you see anything suspicious!

Well the property manager, Denise, is gone. She was incompetent, rude, and unwilling to fight for resident's concerns with Equity's upper management. Guess she was trying to look out for her own job. Sad really, when you take the number of available apartments at Governor's Green, multiply that by an average rent, and see just how much this complex makes per month. I guess we'll see how the new property manager is... but I would recommend finding a different complex.

The previous manager is gone because she was promoted - that tells me she must have been doing something right. There has not been any break-ins since last January. The property also had 2 pool parties this year - it sounds like maybe the person who responded previously about Denise should have came to one of the parties instead of hiding in their apartment talking crap about everyone. I am sure the new manager will do just as good of a job as the previous one did.

OK, so what's the best apartment community in Bowie? Heather Ridge or the Maridian? I currenty live in a town House in Bowie off off Mitchelle Road and there arent crime problems there, so I'm a bit puzzled as I read these reviews.
