Seeing Change

I have been at the property since last year before the new company took over. It was a rough transition but over all I see a change. The office staff has had it's challenging moments but they all seem to be very friendly and polite. I have gone in the office on several occassions with complaints and request. The complaints were taken very serious. My maintenance request took a while to be answered and this was extremely frustrating but after talking to some one in the office and being informed of the maintenance circumstances I was prepared to be alot more understanding. In the last few weeks I think I have had most of my concerns addressed immediately, this was a shock and a relief. This lets me know that the office see's our concerns and are putting forth effort to make the "CHANGE". They have new maintenance staff and they have been operating with out a maintenance supervisor. Knowing this has given me a different perspective. The office staff has been very good in taking care of my needs in a professional manner even when I was angry and wanted to curse everyone out. They were still professional with me and I appreciate that. The gate has been fixed more with the Meridian than when it was under Archstone. I remember the gate staying open for weeks at a time. As far as saftey I have had no concerns and when I spoke to management about the car break ins that I heard about threw neighbors they had no clue that was going on. I havent had any noise problems but the trash issue can be nerve recking. I think if we as residents did our part there job would be alot easier. Another dumpster would just be another spot for lazy residents to sit trash on the outside of it. In stead of bashing them and bashing the community where many of us still live, how about we come up with a solution to assist in the problem and not add to the problem. I love the complex and the lay out of my apartment is sweet, yes we do need some changes but even with changes are we as residents going to change''''''' If you hate the community and the management that much move someplace else where you will be happy but some of the things read here are really sad. To people reading this as a resident I just wanted to let you know that it's not as bad as it seems and that some people love living here it's just we don't take the time to get on here and say it. Maybe if we did we would get better neighbors that will help management take care of the property and not try so hard to tare it down. I see a difference from before and I know sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. So if any of the office staff is reading this HANG IN THERE CHANGE ISNT EASY BUT IT"S NECESSARY. Things will get better and some of us residents do care we just need to start showing it.

Responder, you talk as if this person isn't entitled to their opinion of Meridian just because it is different than yours. If he or she does not view the complex the same as you then that is his or her opinion and he or she is entitled to it, the same as you are entitled to yours. It was not necessary to pick their opinion apart line by line for your childish rant. Please allow me to reply on his or her behalf, because of the two of you, you seem to be the more gullible.
It sound as if you and the rest of the whiners are just upset because none of you bothered to do your homework before you actually moved into the complex. All of these complaints about backed up trash, maintenance issues and dog dropping are just ridiculous and down right childish. It does not matter where you go, when you live in an apartment complex there are going to be some issue with maintenance, neighbors, trash and parking among other things. If you don't want to deal with these types of things then maybe you should buy a house so that YOU are your own customer service representative, maintenance man, garbageman, gardener and any other person you feel your mortgage payment entitles you to.
Really some of you need to sit down and think before you key these idiotic negative remarks that you make before you hit submit. If their is no maintenance supervisor then who is supposed to assign the various duties to the worker? It is customer service's job to forward your request to the maintenace supervisor, who in turn, assigns it to a member of his crew but since there isn't a manager it is going to take longer to get someone to respond to you request because it hasn't been assigned to anyone by anyone. Customer service could probably handle designating various duties to the maintenance crew if they did not have to listen to the nonstop pissing and moaning of tenants, who think that the rent they pay is somehow more valuable than the rent that others pay. Your complaint is not the only one, I'm sure, and so what makes you think that they should or would drop everything they are doing and attend to the wants or needs of the tenant in apartment 9106. We each pay our rent and I would like to think that if I put my request in on Monday, that they would not push my request aside for someone who walked in on Tuesday with a request because that person fills entitled just because they pay rent. The comment about "some of us work", as if this person doesn't, just make you look stupid because even if you work, there is this thing called a phone and if you pick it up and dial the number to the front desk then, guess what, someone will answer and you can make your request that way. Who knew?
This is a large complex so guess what, if everyone takes out their trash then the trash compactor is going to fill up and pretty quickly, I might add. What are they supposed to do, assign trash take out days to each of the tenants? If you have such a problem with the trash, then maybe you should call the city about having the dumpster emptied more than once per week and see how your request for that turns out. And for all of you idiots complaining that there is only one dumpster, I pose these questions: Where would they put it and how would the city empty it? Do you really want a garbage truck trying to navigator through the narrow parking lot and tight turns?
I've even read one post, in which, someone had the nerve to complain that the Meridian didn't hand out baggies for dog poo. Um, that is your dog so that is your responsibility. I mean really, your dog takes a crap on the grass and because they don't hand out free baggies you are going to just leave it there and then have the nerve to complain about it. Well, just go ahead and show the world how much of a disgusting slob you are. What do you do when the dog makes an accidental poo in the house, leave it where it falls?
Protect you from crime? Are you serious? First of all, it is obvious that none of you complainers have any clue of what a high crime area is and second there are several police officers who live here, and for all of you who don't know it, it is their job to protect and serve. Why aren't you bashing the police departments for having officers living in the complex while all of this random crime is taking place? Better yet, why aren't you complaining to the officers themselves?
Yes, dummy, the tenants should take some responsibility for keeping the complex clean. When tenants don't take an active role in the upkeep of the complex you get what is better know as the projects and with that kind of attitude, it sounds like that is where you should be. It is obvious that you are not only the gullible one but also the nasty one.
And I love the way you pointed out that the the person above you misspelled the word "tear" in an attempt to make them appear somewhat stupid or less educated, while the one paragraph you wrote is actually six or seven paragraphs peppered with grammatical errors. If anyone were going to buy a lemon, then it would be you. That is obvious by the fact that you are here whining and complaining about things you should have checked out before you signed the lease.
You all are complaining because you played the ass in this scenario and assumed that the things you wanted would be provided and apparently they weren't. You assumed that there was adequate trash removal, but you didn't ask if there were. You assumed that there was a well staffed maintenance department, but you didn't ask if there were. You assumed that your request would be responded to immediately, but you didn't ask how long response time to requests really was. You didn't even take the time to talk to one of the existing tenants before moving in for their opinion on the place. Apparently, you just walked around with the person showing you the apartment complex "owing" and "awing" when you should have been asking some simple questions. It sounds like non of the people complaining had the common sense to ask the standard questions when renting an apartment. Maybe you should have taken off the blinders before you signed your name on the dotted line.

Well, to everyone who is reviewing this apartment, the review by the above individual pretty much sums up the attitude you will encounter.
You can ask questions all day long about the apartment complex, I know I did, and you won't get any truths. What is truly sad is that this site is suppose to help potential renters get a solid understanding of what they will encounter if they sign the lease. However, when you have individuals who are associated with the rental office or just looking for a fight start calling current residents "dummies," then I have a problem.
I can vouch that I was overly patient and professional when dealing with the office staff on issues that I encountered. I was met with attitude, attitude, attitude. I am at the point that I don't even ask anymore; I don't even want to encounter any attitude or increase my blood pressure.
Reading the other review just reminds me how hostile and overly ignorant people can be. You will have pros and cons of any apartment complex, but when you have to deal with the attitudes as displayed by the other responder, then the cons become much more apparent.
