Meridian at Bowie is some $#%@! I hate to use profanity in this case, but there really is no other way to describe this complex. The ONLY THING that made me choose them was the 2 months rent free special they were running. Granted this was my first apartment, but in the end I was not happy. I've compiled a list of things about the Meridian at Bowie for those of you looking for a new dwelling. Those that already live there, you can relate.
1. The area is beautiful and so are the buildings inside and out. The apartments are extremely modern and have the amenities you want (washer/dryer, huge walkin closets (atleast mine was )) trust me when I say that the rent is way too high. I had a 2 bed/2 bath and was wheelchair accessible so everything was larger, but there is no way the market value is $1600 for that apt.
2. I didn't believe it at first but its true, there really is only one trash compactor is the entire complex. I guess they that felt if they strategically placed at the exit gate, then people wouldn't complain too much. Also the compactor wasn't actually broken all the time. People would pull the red e-stop button and wouldn't push it back in.
3. I can completely agree with the snow issue. There is absolutley no reason why someone wasn't out there to plow or put salt/sand down to prevent residents from falling and busting their asses.
4. Maintenance: WACK!!!! Two weeks after I moved in the washing machine stopped working right in the middle of the cycle. So I had to take my soaking wet clothes out and get the water out by hand. It took maintenance 3 WEEKS to get me a new washer and during that time, I had to drive 30 min to my mother's house to wash clothes. Uhhhh...can I be compensated for that'''!!!!
5. The Gates: Please discuss how you are supposedly a gated luxury community, yet the gates are broken half the time. And please take down that sign that says only one car can enter at a time. Because 6 cars clearly came in after I used my gate opener.
6. Not everyone drives a compact car, so clearly you need to repaint some new parking spaces. I'm pretty sure everyone who lives in the complex had some type of nicks and scratches from other cars because the spaces are so slim. Hopefully you can get home at decent hour because otherwise you are SOL as far as getting a decent parking space. The only time you can actully get a good space is on the weekends when people go out of town.
7. I lived on the first floor. Trust me when I say that I did not enjoy hearing my upstairs neighbors having sex and going to the bathroom or my neighbors to the right playing music. I could always tell when my neighbors were washing clothes, cleaning their house or just walking around. WHY ARE THE WALLS SO THIN'''!!!!!
8. Don't even get me started on the leasing consultants/management. There are too many words and I don't feel like typing it all out.
So in conclusion, DO NOT RENT FROM MERIDIAN AT BOWIE! Nothing but a waste of time and money. Look elsewhere. Trust me. And since they have modern-looking apartments, how bout they get a modern payment system so that residents can pay their rent online. Not everyone uses checks these days.
