I became a resident of Penn Southern in October 2008 and I have to say that I have been more than satisfied with the property as well as the service. I did not want to post a comment prematurely so I wanted a few months just to ensure that I was accurate in what I posted. From the firt call to Penn Southern in September '08 where I spoke to Ms. Rita to today I can honestly say that I am happy with my selection. I had been looking for an apartment for about three weeks before I contacted Penn Southern. The staff was professional, pleasant and very informative. Ms. Jeannette, Ms. Eboni and Mrs. Rita were all great each time I called or visited the office. The move-in process went smoothly and being as though it was my first apartment I did not know what to expect but they were very helpful.

Now onto the apartment, I have a second floor two bedroom apartment and the master bedroom is very spacious. I love the floor to ceiling windows in the bedrooms and they are not lying when they say the closet in the master bedroom is VERY BIG... I love it :) My son's room is also large for a second bedroom in an apartment. His closet could be a little bigger but it works. The bathroom could be more modernized but they are upgrading apartments on the premises so prayferfully mine will be one of them. The kitchen is large and has space for a table set. The cabinets could upgraded but everything else is good. My living room/dining room area is great. I have a full size living room set and dining room set and I still have a lot of space. I have a nice ceiling fan above the dining room table which is great. On to the big things people want to know. Since my five month residency I have only seen three roaches and that was when I first moved in. I called the rent office and they had the exterminator come out two weeks in a row and I have not seen anything since.

I have never had a rodent problem so that is a blessing. I have had small maintenance calls placed such as when the medicine cabinet door in my bathroom came off they ordered me a new one. They are doing some construction behind my apartment building so the drilling caused a small crack in the paint in the living room but I called and they came right out and repaired it like new. They have cleaning people come in and clean the hallways and laundry facilities everyday which is great. I have had a couple of the washers/dryers act up but I have called the number posted and within 48 hours they are fixed. They have PG police stationed at the entrance every evening from around 8pm-5am which makes me feel better. I have never had any issues with vandalism or loitering.

Cons: No key entrance to main building (wish we had that)
Gated with pass/key entry (would be great)

I can honestly say that I love my apartment and the staff both in the office and the maintenance. No I do not work for them so if you want to respond or email me you can, just being honest. Hope this helps!!

I have to agree with EVERYTHING you stated in your review. I have been here since November and I LOVE it. Practically no problems. Maint staff is on their job when it comes to repairs. The office staff is wonderful! The grounds are always neat and clean as well as the inside of the buildings. I am truly happy here. I was not aware of the internal renovations that will soon be made so thanks for the information on that! I am actually thinking of going to a 3 bedroom when this lease is up because my sons are bursting out of that 2nd bedroom. But I am overall pleased with everything here. Especially coming from the dump I left (Regency Village) The only thing I would change would be having all utilities included like the ones that are next to us.!
