I think those people who have spoke glowingly about The Irene are on the take. This is just a big old buidling whose day has come and gone. Yes, the apartments are spacious but everything else about the place SUCKS!!!! Don't let the lobby deceive you. If they in the lobby had to smell the same offensive orders each floor eminated they'd be wearing gas masks. I was at a loss as to wheather The Irene is an old folks home masking as general population apartments or a refuge for people with issues that would become apparent in any "respectable, modern, up to date" venue. The washrooms regugertate water that smells like it's from a local waste plant and there's been no updates it seems to the apartments (minus kitchen cabinets and appliances)since the place originated. Those huge old heating units are a joke and if you look closely at the walls and carpeting in the common areas they're cheap, dirty and in need of serious attention. I wouldn't even advertise in fear of someone calling the health department or someone for numerous violations. I'd say the person who chose to live here has the "cheers" disease. They want to live somewhere where everyone knows the name. If you waste your money to live here I think you also need to invest in a good counselor to find out why you have such low self esteem and don't want better for your money or self! Surely, there must be some nicer apartments in the area where one could live. So word of advice....The Irene is a dump...keep looking. And all the crap the manager said in his missive is --------! Try calling "Tony" and ask him why the water backs up in the washroom, why the halls stink, why the elevators take so long, why the insulation is dirt poor, and why the walls can't get painted. There loads of other questions one could ask, but I doubt very seriously that you're going to get ahold of Tony. By the way, with all the money one pays in rent how is it that so much of the staff are illegal immigrants''''

Some useful points, but it transpires that this comes from a rather bitter person whith discriminatory traits and unable to live in community.
