Of course when you saw all of those very bold reviews such as "Hell on Earth" or "Buyer Beware" you may think that those few tenants were renegades in their hatred and shouldn't be taken seriously, well along side the obviously negative comments I must say that they are in fact absolutely correct. The only reason why I am not using BIG LETTERS and strong words is because I now that many future residents may not really take this reviews seriously, they are as mentioned bedazzled by the service they saw on their tour or the website devoted to showing excellence, but believe me the Irene is now rapidly deteriorating. The maintenance issues brought up by the other reviews are correct, the maintenance "Sucks" along with the plumbing and building it is suppose to repair, just to give you one example, a friend of mine's garbage disposer wasn't working properly and the maintenance guys decided to unclog 25 feet of pipe, in the course of their "duties" they chipped off a fragment of a sewage pipe that had been rusting for 40 years! To make a long story short, first the sewage leaked and flooded two apartments below and then when the other maintenance guys came over at 11:00 PM they hit the jackpot and sliced away a 400psi hot (steam pipe) that not only flooded the entire wing of the building along with three rooms in each apartment on that floor, but it also flooded 5 apartments underneath. The stories go on and on, and just take a look at Abe Pollen, the owner of the Irene and the DC Wizards, it is no surprise that he has long since forgotten how to maintain his investments.

On a somewhat brighter note, with real-estate prices continuing to stay very high, and with over 20 Town house complexes being constructed at this very moment just feet away from the Irene, there should be no reason to exclude looking into property close to Friendship Heights Metro, after all, at one point or another, the people enjoying the "Bethesda Boom" will want to live somewhere close to all of the action, what better place than just 0.8 miles away in Chevy Chase.
