There are better places to rent other than the Irene Apts

Management fails to recognize problems with other tenants. Additionally, they are slow to react, some times up to 6 months. As to the rent, the rent is very high compared to the newer buildings.
Biggest warning! The Irene has many false fire alarms. The last 2 years, the fire department has been there on numerous electrical fires. I would rate the building a fire hazard. They had an electrical fire on 04/04/06.
Abe Pollin (owner) should fire all of his staff and spend money in getting the Irene up to date in amenities. There are newer buildings in the area at the same rent rate with better amenities.
