College kids and utilities

When I first moved in here there were a lot of college students living in the community. The acoustics in this community do a lot to amplify the outside sounds of loud parties on the balconies and patios and it initially gave me the impression that I'd chosen to live in a "frat house" atmosphere.

I work nights and complained several times to the manager about the noise outside my building (a large 3 bedroom). At first I thought she just didn't care about my issue, but then she called me and set up an appointment with me.

The manager was very understanding, and I could tell she really wanted to help me, but she told me all she could do was write a letter to the residents and "hope" that they would comply...

Managment does post several memos regarding rules and patios and other b/s, so I didn't have much faith in her efforts being taken seriously; however...after two more months and one particularly bad party, the issue finally got resolved and it's been over a year since the problems initiated. I don't see as much of the "college student" issues anymore, I still see my neighbors, but they've been acting much more reserved and, in fact, after the recent snow storm, we even helped eachother dig our cars out!

The bottom line is that I believe that management does care about residents facing difficult situations and tries to find a way to work things out, and that's hard to find in other communities.

I too am paying utilities now at Briarcliff and after recieving a rather hefty bill, I contacted BGE.com for a comparable only to find out that natural gas costs were just about the same (BGE was slightly higher). I like the comfort of the construction of these units too much to leave and the management team truly seems to care...
