I had to down-size and found a haven

Recently I moved from a single family home to another apartment community in the Cockeysville area. Not a fan of living in an apartment, I was hesitant to sign a year's lease with the community. I paid higher than the average rent for doing so, but found it to be my only option. BIG MISTAKE -- HUGE! I lived in a community just down the hill from Briarcliff and was met with seemingly endless noise issues and felt very ill at ease. Dogs messed up the ground in front of my patio and the staff just didn't seem to care about the place.
When my three month contract was up I was happy to move! Despite having to move all of my belongings twice...many of them still in boxes!! While I was busy being upset by my new "home" I came across Briarcliff Apartments. It was hot and summer was in full swing, the office was incredibly busy with people moving in and and getting pool passes. What I noticed'' Everyone was smiling and seemingly having a good time despite the hectic pace.
I spoke with a leasing agent who immediately showed me the construction model and reassured me that the construction was defintely more sound-proof than what I was lving in. Having come from a single home, I was a lille leary about some of the utility issues with renting in a RUBs community. But, desparate to get away from the noise, rudeness and lack of attention, I decided to try a 6-month lease. That was almost two years ago.
I have been in the office several times to speak with the both the Property Manger and the entire staff. The Manager of the property and her staff seem determined to try to see to it that the residents are satisfied even in the face of a maintenance issue or complaint. They have made sure that my apartment is looked in upon when I am out of town, scheduled my carpets for shampooing, offered me the use of a washer over a weekend when a part was delayed for mine and inquired of my health and upon every occasion seem genuinely interested in my answer.
The Rental people in the office always greet me with a smile and I feel welcome even though I might be aggrivated with a problem -- I usually leave smiling. The maintenance staff is great and responsive and I have never met a grounds person who wasn't smiling or offering help.
The utility bills this year were high (compared to my home not too bad) but I believe they are trying to find alternatives for the utility billing and doing what they can to work with people in the meantime -- as long as people are willing t meet them half way. I have issues with the current billing company, but so does our Manager and I believe they are working on a solution. After almost two years, I now know why they were all smiling that day I walked in, they care.
