I moved in not long ago and it has been a nightmare from day one. And will be for the remainder of my lease. I had to get an apartment fast, and did not have the time to do the normal research. Now I know why Briarcliff east has so many empty apartments, They have a roach and sewer problem .I was told that my apartment was the only one that had roaches and it was from the last renter. until I started to investigate and speak to pepole that I saw moving out and ask there experience here. The garbage pick up is nice but the smell alone is not. When it has to sit in the hallway over night for pickup that brings roaches. So if you are interested in this place make sure you talk to some of the pepole in the building that you want to move in to and see if they have roaches or sewer problems.VERY NASTY PLACE TO LIVE. I wish I had did my research BEWARE OF Briarcliff Apartments East Roaches and sewer problems. P.S I lived in owing mills for 2 years and had not seen a roach at all.

From the Manager: The management of Briarcliff Apartments takes all reports of dissatisfaction seriously. This is true even when those reports come from this website where complaints are regularly voiced by anonymous persons who may or may not even be residents of this community. We are a privately owned and managed company and take great pride in our community and our service to our residents. No community can claim to be pest-free, and it is impossible to validate this claim without the identity of the owner of this post. What we can say is that issues with pests like roaches have not historically been very common in our community. Roaches are brought into apartments from various outside sources. It is impossible to accurately predict what kind of housekeepers residents have been or will be when they move in to an apartment, but when a problem is reported, we try very hard to remedy the issue as quickly as possible. To that end, we contract regular pest control services to address any and all complaints of this nature. Our valet trash service is an amenity we have provided for over forty years ??? since the construction of our community ??? and it is a valued service to our residents. The convenience of our valet trash service basically allows our residents to place their trash outside their door ??? on their way to work ??? every morning (M-F) where it is picked up and disposed of by our porter staff later that morning. Our porters are also responsible for cleaning our apartment building hallways on a regular basis throughout the week. As a management company, we believe that there is always room for improvement, and we are constantly evaluating our effectiveness with both of these efforts and appreciate the comments and suggestions offered by residents. With regard to the sewer issue mentioned in the above comments, the author failed to identify what the ???issue??? is or was. Like many apartment communities, the occasional plumbing issue does arise at Briarcliff, but to infer that we somehow have a major sewer issue on the property is a gross misrepresentation. Trying to maintain the ???personal touch??? with a large community can sometimes be challenging; however, we do appreciate and look at all CONSTRUCTIVE commentary from our residents as potential for growth. Our mission to provide outstanding customer service cannot be fulfilled if the problem is not brought to our attention AFTER the resident has left our community. On ratings sites such as this, it is difficult to ascertain the validity of any claim being made ??? positive or negative ??? and the author of this commentary may have never lived at our community. If you are seeking an apartment, we encourage you to see our community for yourself, speak to our staff, and not follow the example of this person when trying to resolve issues with your landlord.

I currently live at Briarcliff. The only problems I've had with trash were neighbors who set it out the night before instead of adhering to the trash policy. You place it outside your door between 6am and 8am. It's a very simple process and very convenient. My building doesn't smell and we don't have a roach infestation. The neighbor who stored trash in his home or in the hallway brought the roaches with him and they disappeared when he was evicted. Maintenance is awesome and any time I've seen a roach, an exterminator was there very quickly. The centipede things are a different story. If the windows are open, they come in. The kitchens/bath are a little outdated but for this area, the school district, the size of the apartments, the amenities and maintenance that responds immediately, if a great community. The utilities do suck a bit but this place is far from horrible.
