My girlfriend and I are moving out after 1 year of living here. Overall its a nice place to live, but we have had too many problems.
Right from the start we noticed carpet stains. Two days after we moved in we started to see a lot of bugs, mainly centipedes. We have had the exterminator in here over 20 times. Not all of the apartments have new windows, and the old ones leak. The maintenance staff is really nice, but they are never really able to fix anything without multiple complaints.
Its nice to have a washer and dryer, but they suck. You have to run the dyer over and over before its finally dry, we tried to complain but they could never fix it. The cabinets are UGLY.
Really, the only thing i really like about this place is the concrete floors and walls. It does a great job of soundproofing.
There have been multiple break-ins recently. I know of at least 2 people in my building that have been burglarized. The elderly couple downstairs were broke into in the middle of the night wile they were sleeping. I no longer feel safe here.
Even with all these problems it was tolerable. But come winter, we started getting gas bills for $200 or more. That was a little outrageous since we slept every night without the heat, and we were gone most hours of the day. Apparently, they only have one gas meter per building so they add up all the gas usage and divide it by the number of people living there. Essentially you are paying for other peoples gas usage.
Its late winter and we are starting to get wasps flying around our apartment. for us, it was the last straw. we canceled our lease renewal. We're gonna try out padonia village or maybe seminary apts.

Well what I did was cranked up my AC cause there were famalies all around me...so THEY were trying to save money by turning the air off when in reality they were really paying for me to have a cool apartment. Good for me, bad for them

you pay for your electricity use each month and then you get a second monthly bill to pay for your empty neighbor's apartment bill. the two monthly bills add to about $250 a month extra for a two bedroom suite. the second bedroom is always cold-they cannot fix it.
