Unbiased Review

I feel i have an unbiased opinion of Century Apartments. Although many people complain that their apartments are falling apart, i can sympathize with them. I am currently living in Century apartments and i have experienced many problems that others have had. For the most part, my stay has been enjoyable, but it has had its downers also. Me and my roomate moved into the aparments thrilled with the model apartment. But who isn't' We were offered a newly renovated apartment, which is all you should go for judging from other people's reviews. Problems with our apartment include:
- No screen for our patio for months
- Bugs in the summertime creeping through poorly insulated windows
- Most of all, the leak though the wall in my apartment (fist floor) which i had to go to the office several times to remind them that water was taking up half of my master bedroom. Finally the water was taken care of, but still persisted. I gave up and bought a dehumidifier, which fills up very fast after it rains. Now my room is dry. Apparently, my apartment was renovated b/c they had to reconstruct that side of the apartment. Well- Porject: failed. It still leaks. I just want to move out and get a place that doesn't leak.
- Lastly, our cable hook-up was horrendous. The cable guy said he never saw anything like it. Our cable needed to be ran through my bedroom wall b/c the people upstairs were apparently using our line. The cable guy was at our place for 2 hours and was patient enough to hook it up. I will have to patch up the hole before i move out to save our deposit.
Overall, the maintenance sucks. On the bright side, there was always a parking space for my car right in front of my door and there seems to be some fairly nice people around me. A few nights i accidentally didn't lock my car and had nothing happen to it. Snow was removed promtly from the road as well as sidewalks. My friends thought my apartment looked nice and we didn't have any plumbing problems that weren't fixed the first couple days we moved in. After that, the maintenance sucked. The only way to get anything done is to put it in writing after visiting the office. The employees were empathetic w/ my bedroom leak problem and offered to have the carpet strained for water whenever i needed. I wouldn't stay another year, but i would say i didn't have a bad first apartment with Century. There is definately a younger crowd in some of the apartments, but many pleasant older people. Check out the apartment you're leasing from them before you sign the lease. Look for any pending problems that could get worse and cause months of problems with slow maintenance people. Rent was not as high as Columbia's rent.
