I was misinformed by the leasing office about many important details of the property, including answers to questions I asked such as if they rented to college students or had section 8 housing. I was not given a copy of some of my move in materials despite numerous requests. My apartment was dirty when I moved in.
I found a crack pipe outside of my complex entrance and had to call the management company to have it removed. Often there would be open beer bottles in the entrance to the building. There were many DUI's occuring in my parking lot. My car was damaged by a drunk resident who punched in my hood. My upstairs neighbors urinated on my door because they were drunk, and I often had to clean up their beer bottles out of the back of my yard. The other neighbors upstairs would often knock on my door and ask me for money. Once, I found the person who lived across from me standing on my back porch and stairing into the sliding glass doors late at night, trying to get into my apartment. When I would call the management to complain about these things they would tell me to call the police. There is nothing the police can do after the fact or when the people will not answer their doors. When I complained of parties that were happening all night with people upstairs, I was told that I had to register my overnight guests. That doesn't make sense.
The hallway in the apartment had mold growing in it and flooded many times. When the repairs were made, they only painted over the mold on the walls and never replaced the carpets. This caused me to become ill. I had a cricket and mouse problem. Although the apartment complex had the pest control person in to "respond", the problem did not go away. Sewage water would sometimes come through my drain in the bathtub. Once, a maintenance person responded and accidentally turned all four knobs of my stove on and let gas fill the apartment. When I called to report this to the Management Office I was not given an apology, however they did inform me that "unless I lit a match, it wouldn't kill me". The heat in my apartment was shut off two days before I vacated and the workers tracked oil on my floor. Even though I documented this to the office, they were still going to charge me for it anyway until I called to complain.
I moved out in February because the management could not resolve the problems in my building. They were kind enough to release me from my contract. I still have yet to receive my security deposit back despite many calls to not only their office, but also the corporate office.
I would not recommend anyone to live at Century Apartments.

Security deposits are required to be returned within 45 days of your moveout otherwise per Maryland law you are entitled to two times your deposit amount... That should be right in your lease- see what they have to say about that. I am sorry about your experience- I decided where to live not just because of the apartment but the people in the office-so friendly-they even have a book with pictures of the whole staff right in the office! No complaints here!

You sound suspiciously like a plant from Henderson Webb.
