You could do a lot worse

Years at this apartment:

I lived in Hunt Club for a year, and my former roommates are still in the same apartment. When we moved in, we made an extensive list of all the pre-existing problems with the place, including cracks in the ceiling, missing tiles in the bathroom (which we were told about prior to moving int), etc. We gave it to the office staff and said that they had a month to fix everything. Some things didn't get fixed in a month, so we got on them about it, and stuff eventually got fixed.
Then the real problems started.
In the ONE YEAR that I lived there, our apartment (in the basement) flooded THREE times. Once because the washer broke. Once because the toilets backed up. Once because the upstairs apartment's hot water heater burst. The third time was the worst. Mold started growing all over my roommate's room, the hallway carpet, and parts of the dining area's walls. We called maintenance. They said they'd take care of it. We waited. Nothing. We called again. They said they'd paint over the walls and clean the carpets. We said that wasn't good enough; my roommate and I are allergic to mold. We wanted them to cut out the moldy parts and replace the carpet and the pad underneath. Nothing. So we called the health department on them. Once we got a state agency involved, you had better believe that we got the quick response that we wanted!
We had a constant problem with sewage backing up into our toilets and our bathtubs. At first, the maintenance and office people didn't belive that it was sewage. I told them that I knew what ---- looked and smelled like, and this was definitely ----. They always fixed the problem, but usually begrudgingly because we wouldn't discover these problems until after work...and after hours. When we finally asked them to bleach our bathtubs for us after fixing the problem for the FIFTH time, they balked and said it wasn't their job to do so...until we threatened to call the health dept again. That's when we learned that the whole building only had ONE sewage line! So when one person clogged a toilet, we, as the basement residents, got screwed.
On the plus side, there is always ample parking, and the neighbourhood is quiet. It seems like petty crimes are getting a little worse. My former roomies told me that someone had broken their patio door in an attemp to break into the apartment, and when I lived there, my upstairs neighbour broke my window trying to get into his place. (Don't ask.)
My roomies are looking to move out this year, not necessarily because they're fed up with the place, but because they're looking for places in other areas. Still, there are a lot sketchier places in the Cockeysville area for a lot more money.
