I have lived at Steeplechase for several years. The buildings, grounds and apartments are very nice and well maintained.
The maint staff, and especially the maint manager, are very professional and prompt. Bonnie in the office is also kind and professional. I agree with others that Charlotte needs to go. Consistently rude without reason. I asked a simple question about pet rent, I'm new to the area and have never heard of such a thing, and I was scolded like I was trying to con her. I never once had a pleasant experience with her eventhough I have never once complained, been complained about or been late with payments.
The property is kept up and is safe. However, you never really feel like you live here... more like you are allowed to stay. God help you if you get a flat tire or your car inspection is overdue. They'll tow your car with a days notice, or call the cops to ticket you. I am completely serious! I understand it's meant to keep up the property and keep out bad neighbors but, really.
One last thing. Beware if you own a pet. Your dog/cat can be evicted for any reason without investigation. Read the lease carefully, all 26 pages, before you sign.

Charlotte is the worst..backstabbing and lying. I had to go over her head to get a maintanence request for water leaking fixed and that was after waiting 6 months. She is rude and once you cross her she will nitpick and lie to try to get you to move out. She sends people to inspect your apartment for housekeeping etc. Maintanence lets your animals out then you get in trouble for having them out. I agree you are never comfortable here. I would never move here and can't wait to leave. Nice apartments though I question the condition as I have one wall that is completely bubbly and looks like a 1st grader spackled it. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere
