I have lived here for about 5 years and for the most part am happy. The rent is very reasonable and management is very good about fixing things and addressing your concerns. The average rental prices in this area are astronomical and Ferris Manor is the best you will find. The apartments are very roomy and the kitchens have new appliances. I would recommend it to anyone.

Your one of the lucky ones that didn't get your apartment broken into. There have been many break-in's in the last 2 years. The rent might be reasonable but it's not safe at Ferris Manor. There is never a maintenance person on the property; and that makes it very easy for break-in's. Rumor has it that the break-in's are coming from someone that lives at Ferris Manor.

The neighborhood is definitely changing around Ferris Manor. I've heard prostitutes conduct business at the motels next door. The aroma of illegal substances lingers in the air above the parking lot. I wouldn't be surprised if the break-ins were an inside job. There's really only one maintenance person, and he has another job. Having him there all the time wouldn't do much to deter crimes on the property, but the need for better security is a concern.

I know most of the neighbors, the younger crowd and have never heard any one of them talking about any B&E's. The maintenance person is employed exclusively by Ferris Manor, there is another property in VA and he spends some of his working hours at that complex. As far as the illegal activities I know for certain that measures are being taken by local law enforcement and the local hotel managers to address and alleviate the crime, specifically prostitution and drug activity. There was a reorganization of the police to provide more of a police presence in this specific area. Maybe if an effort was made to communicate with the local youths and neighbors, they would look out for your apartment. This has been my experience. Just my 2 cents.
