I'm subletting a unit at the Parkside for the summer. My unit is large and well maintained (never seen a roach, rodent, etc.). The bathroom is a decent size and the water is always hot. Gorgeous kitchen with granite countertops and white paneling, stove and frig.
The building is well maintained. The building is secure. Occasionally, you will find one of the entrances unlocked. A nice gym is provided with two treadmills, two bikes and weights. The noise level is not a big deal. This may be due to the fact that most of the students are away until Fall semester. The surrounding area is very nice. A shopping plaza with good restaurants (Pizza, Jamaican, Indian food) is only a five minute walk from the apartment complex. The University of Maryland campus is a 10 minute walk. You can catch a free UM shuttle to the College Park Metro Station.
Overall, I love my time here at Parkside and would recommend it to anyone.

"The building is secure. Occasionally, you will find one of the entrances unlocked." False. The building is not secure, a lot of non residents know the code to get in, and there are some doors that you can just pull open without effort (That door has been broken for many months now, and they havent fixed it). Another issue is that I belive the camera's do not work! there is a camera outside one of the exists, and someone managed to hit the camera at an angle that nobody can see anything from that cam. Been like that for months, if it has been working they would of relized it by now and fixed it. Or the management office is just slow.. like months slow. However, the resturants are really close, less then 5min walk dude, its across the street, 3min max. About the stove, frige, and bathroom, the person is right, the place is good looking and everything is not to small, and not to big. Read my other posts regarding this place before you move in! |

I agree with what you are saying. Being a female I feel unsafe. There have been break ins all throughout the years. Actually things were stolen out of my apartment. Computer, movie and PS3. The place is nice but it is old. I feel like all they did was cover up everything with cheap paint and products. Water is constantly leaking in the hallways and about the cameras I personally do not even think they work.. One by the side down is hanging by the cord. They insure safety but it is not true. The gym is nice but has barely any equpiment.
