If I knew that burglary is a common thing in this development, I would have never moved in here to begin with. After countless attempts of telling the leasing office that their windows don't lock securely, my place been robbed. I have come to find, when I did my research by talking to the detective dealing with my case and other renters in this complex, that in the time span of a month (Jan-Feb 2008), there have been a total of 4 robberies. Within this past year, the complex admitted that there were 6, but something tells me there's more than that. Not one of the tenants were notified of the robberies that had occurred. No flyers, no notices and no warnings were ever issued. I have lived here for 2 years!
Although I find it funny that a portion of the rent goes to security, I cannot tell you how many times I have entered the complex and passed the security gate unchecked. You would think with the security that we are paying for, there would be some sort of patrolling around the complex. Not only am I furious, upset and scared that this could happen again, even with the precautions that I've taken to secure my dwelling, the leasing office is acting and playing it off as if nothing has even happened! If they thought about taking care of any warning signs prior, I am sure this would have been avoided. But not only did I find a homeless guy sleeping in a makeshift shed outside my bedroom window at night, I have also seen a man on numerous occasions going through our dumpsters looking for paperwork and documents. They tell me he's homeless and that they've chased him out, but I have seen him driving a car...so he's obviously not homeless. There was even an occasion when I went to approach him, and he jumped out of the dumpster, hopped in his car and sped away (doesn't sound like a homeless guy to me!).
Yes, I do live on the first floor, but that should not constitute an excuse for a break-in. There are no lights to illuminate the back end of the building, and so it is dark and perfect for any crime to be committed. If you are looking to move here, I would sure hope you would think otherwise. Also, GET RENTER'S INSURANCE!!! Living here is like playing Russian Roulette...It is way too risky/dangerous!

I have lived here a little more than a year. Moved out of the highrise because of mice and the residents leaving trash in the halls. Now that I am in the garden apartments....I pray that I don't see mice, although I hear them in the walls. I have bought electronic devices and plugged anything that looks like a whole--doing what I can to prevent the presence of them.
As for suspicious activity, I've notified the Rental Office and Business Office about an individual occupying a vacant apartment in my building. I was told that vacant apartments are unlocked so painters, cleaners, etc. has access because of their schedules. You would think whom ever this is would use caution when in the apartment. Not. This individual walks heavy, you can hear the pitter patter of little feet running/walking around, and loud music is played late at night.
I am not suprised about the reviews that are written. I believe everyone of them. You should too.
