Seven Springs Village was a decent place to live when we moved here 2 years ago. As a graduate student at the Univ. of Maryland, it was in a good location and was very affordable (compared to Montgomery County). At this point, we're just waiting for our lease to run out so we can get out of here....it has gotten completely unsafe.
In the past 6 months or so, there have been multiple arsons in one of the highrise buildings. There has been gang-related graffiti on the premises, including the bus stop and inside our building. Thuggish teenagers roam the parking lots and halls, drunk and loud...if you even look outside your door to see what the noise is, they threaten to kill you. We've had to call the police twice in the past week. Management does nothing about this, which is not a smart move on their part. The next time something happens, we're going to sue them for not taking action against the tenants (yes, the police incidents involved tenants of SSV).
The community is supposed to be electronic access. It is not; the "guards" barely glance up when people drive in. The gate never works, and most of the doors in the buildings are unlocked at all times. Just the other day, someohe had kicked the door in at the 9314 building.
The bottom line is that Seven Springs Village is turning into a ghetto. It is entirely unsafe. Three days ago a tenant had her apartment broken into. Management did nothing. They don't even raise awareness in the community about the ongoing crime so that tenants can at least keep a look-out for suspicious activity. Just do yourself a favor and find a better, safer place.

On a similar note, the balcony windows don't even have locks on them (at least in the garden-style apartments). Living on the second floor, which isn't at a traditional height since the first floor is partially underground, I can tell you that there is no way to securely lock our apartment. This is very worrisome given the crowd commonly roaming the parking lot and laundry room.

I was the victim of robbery 4 days ago. I am still waiting for any kind of a response from management. They simply do not care. As the last posting said. There are no flyers warning anybody and it??s only going to get worse. What can we do as tenants to get something done? I feel unsafer here with each passing day. I have to sleep with one eye open. If anyone wants to take any action please let me know.

Wow! SSV is changing. Lets not forget, at least 50% of the tenants are college students.

Well, unless those 50% have spawned rude and loud kids running around the halls and laundry room at all times and thug-wannabe teenagers in the parking lots at night......then I'm guessing they're not the problem!

Has anyone thought to report these issues to the Office of Landlord Tenent Affairs?
