More reasons NOT to live here than just not being able to concentrate

This place is the pits. The comments from other residents pretty much sum up how bad this place is. After living here for only a month and a half, I quickly moved to a safer and quieter building about thirty miles from this area and have no regrets. The Towers look nice from the outside but do NOT be fooled! The design and overall idea of this student housing complex is good in theory but in reality, this place is chaotic and out of control. If you are new college student, like to party, and have never lived anywhere but under your parents roof and have yet to learn about self-control, respect for others, and overall common sense on how to act just because someone is not watching you all the time--then move here. The construction woke me up every morning at 6AM and went on all day. This is extremely frustrating if you are a full-time student and actually want to study during the day. I was assured I would be placed on a hall with other graduate students but this was not the case. My floor consisted of all freshmen who, as expected, were loud and obnoxious and made studying hard at night. The office staff is unbelievably rude and they do not even try to hide this. After reading one review from February 2007, it seems the mailbox issue has not been resolved yet and that is appalling. Residents have to pick up their mail from the rental office and this would not be so bad if the staff did not act like I was bothering them when I asked for my mail. There attitudes were so horrendous that my roommate or I actually only went to pick up the mail only once or twice a week in order to avoid dealing with them nor did I bother to ask for my $150 deposit back when I left becasue I did not want to deal with the staff. The effort simply would not have been worth the hassle. When dealing with the staff, I would advise residents to get everything one of them promises or says to you in writing,no exceptions. I never really felt safe here. The parking garage is gated and a key is required for entry/exit but to enter the parking garage, you have to go behind a building which has no security personnel at or near the entrance. When I lived here, the cops were outside almost every weekend and even some weeknights. The appliances (fridge/freezer, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and washer/dryer) are modern and all a great convenience to have. However, those features are probably the best thing about this place. Beware of the utilities included sham, because you will owe money if the energy amount consumed in your apartment is over a certain amount which is determined by the number of bedrooms in your unit. Graduate students should not even think about living here because you will never be able to concentrate. Mature students who still want to enjoy college life but also live reasonably know to go to DC, a bar, a club, movie, or whatever to really party or do it up, not in your living room or in the hallway. Unfortunately, most of the students at the Towers have yet to realize this so they engage in immature behaviors such as door to door parties on their floors, littering (beer cans in the stairwell, elevator . . . .) and destroying property signage for no reason at all.
