So much better than University View

I have lived at the building since it opened (2006) and I think that the older reviews on this place should be disregarded-- things have changed a lot. Lately, I have been staying with my husband in University View (ONLY because I don't have a car and don't have to worry about parking-- he can just pick me up. Whereas, if he stays over here then he has to pay $14/night-- can't afford that). I'd like to make a comparison between the two buildings because I know that when I first was apartment hunting in College Park, I was having a hard time deciding between both places. I'd first like to mention some things that I like about the Towers.
- I like the fact that I have a washer and dryer. I don't care about how small some people say they are, it is better than carrying laundry to some dangerous laundromat. Even though they were small, I still only needed to do 2-3 loads, which is how much I would've done in a larger washer/dryer anyway. - The office staff and most of the security guards are nice. Some of the office staff know me by my first name-- I was surprised. Some of the security guards are awesome, most of the rest of them are pretty nice. - I like the kitchen appliances-- good quality and size. The kitchen area has enough space for 4 roommates. - The cable package includes around 80 channels and HBO. I never get bored :-) - The location! Some of my favorite restaurants and stores are nearby. The mall is not dangerous, I don't know why people say that. I have walked there alone many times and haven't had any problems. The metro is nearby. I even walked from the metro alone late at night (9-11pm) a few times (and I'm a white girl). I don't feel unsafe in the area I live in. Regarding restaurants: QDOBA gives students 50% off meals on Mondays and Three Brothers sells 2 pieces of pizza for the price of one on Tuesdays. This is for students only. - The shuttle to and from campus comes often, every 20 minutes (though every 40 minutes during lunch time) and runs late into the night. It's safe to wait at the shuttle stops at night. - I'm glad that I have free access to a pool, gym, and tanning beds. The gym is pretty nice-- it is air conditioned and the equipment is good. There are also free weights. - There are vending machines and every other floor and in the main lobby. - The D room is spacious. I don't know about the other rooms. - The building is cleaned daily, it looks nice. Both lobbies have nice comfy study rooms/lounges. - I hardly pay anything for utilities!!
Now the things I don't like: - Some of the security guards are jerks. I've talked with the building manager about this and this is being taken care of. - PARKING! It costs too much to have a visitor overnight (14/night). However, during the day (up till midnight), visitors can park for free at the mall. - The younger tenants have no sense of respect or responsibility, so they will treat the building bad. It pisses me off. - You don't really know your roommates. - That's all I can think of now...
Comparison to University View: - University View SMELLS!! :-/ - U View has ridiculous utility bills-- one roommate may pay $40 while the other pays $20 even though they have similar-sized rooms! At the towers I only pay around a few dollars, if anything. - The security guards at U View don't really provide security at all-- I walk right in all the time. I've probably only checked in 5% of the time. - The appliance quality is not as great as the Towers'. The Towers' apartments' living room areas are better. - The rooms are more cramped at U View, you definitely don't get your money's worth. - U View's fitness center is small and unairconditioned, it seems.
Overall, you will pay more for University View rooms and receive less. At the Towers, you will get your money's worth. Move here! I graduated in May, so I can't live here anymore. But if I weren't done and I weren't married, I would renew my lease.
