it is true things have improved. however, improvement comes solely at the foot of cameras in the hallways. if the cameras did not exist (which they didn't for until March of `08), then destruction would still be taking place (i.e. tenants punching the walls, taking down signs, etc.). I never had a problem with the previous staff but i can tell a difference in the new people here.
Let's not forget tho. A young college student (guest of one of the residents) was shot and killed in this building in March of 2008. And on July 12th 2008, 18 cars were broken into in the garage, where items were stolen. So i guess they will NOW install cameras. They stepped up the security by having a patrol car roam around 1 once every few days now in the garage. My problem is why does it always take something for them to implement proper security details. Also, I believe it is a charade. After a few months pass, things will return to where they were before.
My room faces the courtyard and movie theater. It can be quite noisy at times, especially on the weekend. I can hear people screaming, yelling, fighting, singing, etc. during the middle of the night. It settles down in the winter cause it's cold but it is never quiet. So if you do choose to move in here, beware cause the people here are still loud and rowdy. And if your room faces the courtyard bring earplugs.
Parking is a complete nightmare if you are not in the garage (120 per month) or in the above ground parking (75 per month). I don't even have visitors often cause they have nowhere reasonable to park.
The apartment itself is nice. The amenities are 2 years old, washer/dryer (half size, not full load) inside the apartment, each bedroom has its own bathroom, lots of cabinet space in the kitchen, and the everything is well kept. But if your roommate sucks, then all of this won't matter. I have experienced roommate problems and have heard the complaints from others about strife with their roommates. Much of it is due to the tenants lack of respect for their apartment and others. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

Concerning the noise-- there will be noisy people everywhere, whether it is an inconsiderate neighbor playing loud music, someone yelling at night, fire trucks, whatever. You will get that ANYWHERE, ANY apartment in College Park. I have lived at other apartments, I know. This is the same with the roommate situation. Unless you move in with your close friends, you will never know what to expect. Unfortunately, some college students are just A-holes who were raised bad. You will run into them everywhere.
Concerning the break-ins, you will also get that anywhere around the University of Maryland, that is, unless your car is parked in a cage.
I'm not defending the Towers, I'm just being realisitic. THIS IS THE DC AREA and PG County is the most dangerous county in Maryland! But, unfortunately, that is where the Unviersity of Maryland is... and living far away, like in Germantown, where it is safer, is unrealistic with the way the gas prices/economy are going.
