Where to begin'
I moved to Wynfield Park in October of 2003. The rental office had screwed up my paperwork, so they were not expecting me to move in for another 10 days. We finally got keys and moved in, but not before noticing that the electricity was not on in half of the apartment (including the controls for the furnace), the master bedroom had a broken window, and the dishwasher seal was broken. It took about 3 weeks to correct all of those problems. In the course of fixing the window, the repair guys discovered that the complex was so poorly made that the window was not shaped like a rectangle. They had to take the window back to their shop to make a custom shape!
We have one exterior wall, yet our heating bill is very high. Why' Well, all of the windows and doors seal poorly and are drafty. We had to deadbolt both doors to hold them shut, as they didn't latch. I called maintenance to have them fix our bathroom door (it also didn't latch). They came and roughly gouged out a new hole for the latch, then caked a lot of caulk in the old hole. Outstanding workmanship!
Everything about Wynfield Park is of low quality. The disposal always clogs, the dishwasher does a poor job of cleaning, there is never enough hot water, and you run the risk of breaking the chincy faucets by the simple act of washing a dish. I have a plunger on hand, as about 1 out of every 5 flushes results in a nasty clog. The fireplace produces no heat. The list goes on.
If you're on the south side of the complex, you get to listen to the Beltway all night long. Here those cars whizzing by at 4 AM' College kids abound, and the place ends up littered with beer bottles and reeking of marijuana on weekends.
Pet policies are not enforced. I often thought of the 25 pound weight restriction on pets as I watched tenants walk multiple (and large) dogs around the complex. A neighbor's dog bit my leg one day as I was on the way to my car.
Equipment in the gym is sparse and frequently broken, or just mysteriously won't work. Yes, it's plugged in and the power switch is on, it's just not working.
I spent a scant 4 months at Wynfield Park, and paid the lease termination fee to move out. It was 1.5 months rent and 60 days notice, but it was worth every penny.
