I lived at Wynfield for 4 years.
Pros:
Proximity to the highway.
Decent apartment for the neighborhood and the price ($200 less and you get roaches in our neighborhood, $500 more and you live across the street).
Okay gym and the machines are usually available.
Close to a metro stop (1 1/2 miles on the highway, 3 miles down route 1).
If you are nice to the staff, they usually reciprocate (not always).
Cons:
Noisy and little sound proofing (could hear all of the people who ever lived above me and always heard the highway/route 1).
The view leaves something to be desired.
The property management changed over 4 years, once Rebecca left the respect for the residents went downhill. Before she left, there was a quick response to issues and concern about your welfare, not so much with Katrina.
For the price you can live in a decent place in Silver Spring or Bethesda (walking distance to metro).
The garbage (does anyone pick up behind his/herself anymore'). A little bit of an entitlement issue there.
I would recommend Wynfield as you learn the neighborhoods and the city (if you're from here, you can find better for the price). Stay a year, but not the kind of place I would commit to.
