Expensive, but good choice

I currently live at Wynfield Park. While respecting those who disagree with it being a good choice, I feel that it is. Yes, it is expensive but unless you want to live in a subprime area, many complexes charge a lot.
Wynfield Park has the best maintenance staff. The turnaround time for non-emergencies usually is about 48 hours, but often, maintenance is performed well before that.
It is a gated community which is nice and it's not been dangerous to me (knock on wood). The gate has malfunctioned a couple of times, but the repair was done in a prompt and timely manner.
The trash is the biggest complaint I have. While there is NO trash about the community grounds (they do a great job of upkeep), the one and ONLY trash compactor is located at the very back of the community, which means the majority of residents have to walk a pretty distance or drive. While no one wants to have a trash compactor as a primary site entering the community, if there was an additional compactor that could handle increased loads would be great.
Wynfield Park pays no utilities other than trash pickup. I don't know why they consider this a service. They don't pick up your trash. Utilities can get a bit pricy, not too bad, but up there for an apartment. This also can be the result of over usage on the resident as well, but I don't use a lot of power or gas and it's still pricy.
They also have washers and dryers in every apartment which is great!
The pool is great. There is a lifeguard on duty every day and every hour the pool is open. The fitness center is nice, but kind of small. Most machines work, but the TV's suck. Can we get some flat plasma screens or something' LOL!
The leasing office is very good. Yes, there has been an awful lot of turnover, but to me, there has been no decrease in great customer service. You're always greeted with a smile and free cookies, coffee, candy, etc. There is even a business center with free internet access, faxing, and copying.
Parking can be a problem, but you'll always find a space although that might be on the opposite end of the complex. Walking at night is fine (I mean don't do anything stupid if you can avoid it - Just use common sense as in any environment). Many people want to park right outside their building. If it's unfortunate that there is no parking, you'll find it but it would be at a different location within the complex. Now, on weekends, it may be different, but regardless, all cars WITHOUT a permit must exit the gated portion by 10pm or else be towed. They enforce towing.
If you can financially, sign up to either lease a carport ($35) or a garage ($125) which will guarantee parking. Also, when inclement weather such as snow comes, you'll be thankful too!
Another thing is that currently, there are about three police officers living in the community. They get to bring their squad cars home so just seeing PG Police cars can be a welcome site to many.
It's a good deal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with the rent or the fact that no utilities are included, but for everything you get from WP and considering many other complexes in a neighborhood as good as College Park/Beltsville, it's worth it.
Again, I say take a look at it. Not everything is for everyone, but if you can, I would recommend giving it a chance.
Hope this helps! vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
