My family and I are currently living here and counting down the days to the end of our lease. If there wasn't a financial penalty for breaking the lease we would have moved out months ago. My biggest gripe is the fact that the windows are so old and drafty that we had to put plastic sheeting over them in order to avoid a $300 utility bill in the winter. You can literally feel a breeze come in when it is just a little windy and the windows and sliding glass doors are CLOSED. What is the point in having a patio and sliding glass doors if you have to cover it in thick plastic and a blanket to keep the cold out and can't use them'' Maintenance is a BIG problem. I realize that there is more than one apartment for them to attend to, but taking weeks to months to fix something is unacceptable!! Every maintenance problem we've had has not been addressed unless we called the office several times over a three to four weeks. Often someone comes by, looks at it, says they'll be back to fix it and we never hear anything from them until we complain to the office several times again. The all around quality of nearly everything in our apartment is poor. The shower door does not slide without a lot of force and often falls off the track. The sliding closet doors are always falling off the track. We finally just left them off becuase we got sick of fixing them ourselves 2 or 3 times a week.

The neighborood is not good. I do not feel safe going outdoors at night. The appearance of the grounds is pretty, but deceiving. The playground is often littered with beer cans/bottles and cigarette butts. Not a place I want my children to be playing. I see that they do have someone cleaning it on occaision, but I don't want to live around other people who care that little for the appearence of their neighborhood. Unfortunately we moved here from out of state and had no idea of how the neighborhood was. We were told by many that Columbia was, overall, a good place to live and went on that advice when looking for a place to live. I'm sure many places in Columbia are a great place to live, just not on this street or in this apartment complex.

I only have one positive thing to say and that is that the ladies who work in the office are always nice and polite. But since that is a very small part of living here I have to say I would not recommend living here.

If Autumn Crest has a bad reputation, they have earned it!

I recently broke my lease at this complex. Moved in in February 2005 and the large window in the bedroom admitted so much cold air that I had to cover the floor with a 5x7 rug and the window with plastic held up with masking tape. All of this required special trip/expense at Home Depot. It reduced the intense cold in the apartment by about 40%. I couldn't use the bedroom! Eventually moved my bed into the living room until the warmer weather.
