Okay place to live

We have been living at Autumn Crest for about 6 months. It has its ups and downs:
Ups:
Maintenance has been pretty good when we needed them. We have had a couple issues in off hours and they were here promptly.
Overall, the grounds are kept pretty nice.
Noise isn't too bad at all. You can hear people walking around and the plumbing of those above you, but we don't hear music or voices, except in the stairwell from time to time.
It is affordable, well for Maryland anyhow--if you come from out of state, you understand what I mean.
Parking isn't bad at all and I don't feel that I have to worry about my car.
The bedrooms are nice sized.
Downs:
Bugs, bugs, bugs. It may be because we live on the first floor, but we have had a severe invasion of silverfish and we get a lot of crickets in our apartment. The door is not sealed tight enough and nasty little critters come in the front door all of the time. We also get some monster spiders.
Safety- while I don't get scared walking around the area, I have seen the police numerous times since I have been here (two times taking different people away in cuffs).
Our appliances suck. The washer is ALWAYS off balance, the dishwasher doesn't always seem to work right, and the average laundry load needs a good 100 minutes to dry in the dryer.
The lockout policy is ridiculous. We haven't had to use it (knock on wood), but $100 is a steep price to pay for a little bit of someone's time. I understand it is probably a pain to unlock doors after hours, but it comes with the territory of property management. The best part is they require you to call and pay for a locksmith after 10pm. My old landlord would let you in anytime of day or night for $25... seems MUCH more reasonable!
No pool, but we knew that when we signed the lease.
For the price, it is a decent place to live. The bug issue is really bothersome though. I would recommend, but would probably advise something other than a ground floor apartment.
