Nice place

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
We lived in the "Woods" community for a year before buying a house last fall and, aside from an ant infestation that took a little longer to control than it should have, found the complex to be very nice. The grounds were well maintained, maintenance was always quick to respond to issues (the ant thing notwithstanding), and the front office staff was the most courteous of any I'd encountered in years of renting in the area. The nearby shopping is convenient, and being near the golf course was really relaxing. We also used the gym a lot and really miss it now. Right as we were transitioning into the new house from the apartment, a new tenant moved in downstairs and was really loud. Fortuntately, we were no longer living in the apartment (just last-minute packing up) and so we didn't make an issue out of it, but be forewarned: the sound transfer between floors is RIDICULOUS. We lived under "Stampy"---a woman fond of running in her heels on the linoleum at all hours---and, at the very end there, above "Gamer"---a guy who found it impossible to play video games without his surround sound system turned up to ELEVEN. But! We never once heard the neighbors with whom we shared a floor, so it only proves that the sound transfer between floors is a big problem for Avalon. Don't let it deter you from renting; just take a top-floor unit and don't wear loud shoes.
