The apt complex is decent, safe, great location and as others have said, pricey. We live in an "unrenovated unit" and my only complaint about that is that the heating coils on the stove are very lopsided.

The maintenance is OK- they always respond, but they don't always respond right away. We had a mouse problem and they took 3 days to come and patch up the hole.

My biggest complaint is the noise from above. I guess it goes w/o saying that living on the ground floor of a garden style bldg, you're gonna get some noise. But I didn't know it was going to be this bad. I have no idea what is in between our ceiling and the floor above us, but you can hear EVERYTHING the upstairs neighbors are doing (they're not even doing anything crazy- just everyday noises) and even when they walk around the noise is unbearable. It really sounds like they are going to step through the ceiling and fall into our apt. At night, my husband and I literally have to wear earplugs because our neighbors have a baby and are up 3-4x a night walking around- otherwise we would not get any sleep. Also, the windows are very thin- you can hear everything outside.

But if you don't mind the ridiculously loud crunching noises from above and don't use the stove much, this place isn't so bad.

I completely agree about the noise. In a apartment i do not expect to hear nothing, but the noise is unusually loud and unbearable. The noise from the neighbors above us was so bad that we moved. We could hear them just walking around up there. There must be almost nothing between the floor and ceiling.
