Nice apartments, inconsistent customer service

The Columbia Town Center apartments are quite nice -- large apartments, tall ceilings, and well-kept grounds. They have a pair of concealed parking decks with assigned parking spots -- a nice touch, but it has some serious drawbacks (read below). The location is excellent -- walking trails are next door, the Merriweather Post Pavilion is across the street, and the mall is close by. The maintenance staff is generally quick to respond once a maintenance request has been made.

I've been living here for nearly six months at the time of writing, and I've found a number of negative points about living here. These are luxury apartments, so they come at a luxury price. If you have pets, expect a hefty non-refundable pet deposit and a high pet rent.

The leasing office staff is friendly, but a bit flaky. I often need to contact them more than once to get them to take care of administrative tasks. They will very often close up the leasing office before 6pm (their posted closing time), so it can be difficult to reach them after work.

The parking situation is shifty. Visitors are not allowed to park in the parking decks (even though the parking is ample on most levels of the parking decks, from what I can see). There is very little parking available outside of the parking decks -- and by 5pm every day, all of the spaces outside of the decks are consistently filled by residents. You will not be able to invite people to visit your apartment unless they want to hike over from the mall parking lot. When I signed my lease, a two-bed apartment was assigned two parking spots. If you happen to have a third car, you will probably need to pay an extra $100-or-so per month for another parking space.

At the Columbia Town Center apartments, you can sleep easy knowing that the ING property management company will squeeze every possible dollar out of you that they can. They give you a very nice apartment in return for your money, but in terms of value I'm not sure if it is worth it.
