A section of a city occupied by a minority group who live there especially because of social, economic, or legal pressure. Also described as "a poor densely populated city district occupied by a minority ethnic group linked together by economic hardship and social restrictions" by Mr. Webster...First, may I ask who are these disillusioned tenants calling this place a ghetto' I see no impoverished people begging for food, no drugs being sold on the side of the street, no gangs loitering outside. Our apartments are not cockroach and rodent infested, I don't hear sirens late at night. Rather I see a population of apparently ungrateful middle class people working their 9-5's, who live in well maintained buildings that are not falling apart around their heads. This place is not a "--------" as you claim. Rather it is a decent place housing decent people. Yes, management is experiencing a time of transition, but I for one have had no problems. Perhaps because if I have an issue to take up with them, I approach them in a patient and kind manner rather than storming in with an attitude as I witnessed someone do the other day. The buildings are well kept; specifically, new roofs have been installed, the parking lots have been repaved, the hallways painted with new carpet/lighting put in, etc. Additionally, almost all of the apartmens have had their appliances and cabinets upgraded.

As for safety, this place is really secure. I have no qualms about walking my dog late at night by myself, which I never felt I could do at my old apartment. The schools around here are decent, so I wouldnt have any problems raising a kid in this area.

Parking is good, and the grounds are maintained. I have never had a problem with snow removal this year; all the sidewalks and the parking lot were cleared within about two hours. At my old apartment we had to wait about two days...

Apartments are roomy, I LOVE the full washer and dryer; at the old apartment my washer/dryer were so small I could not wash such items as a comforter. And my electric bill here has been considerably lower (about $120 lower a month then my last apartment). The only qualm I do have about this place regards maintenance. While the man is here 24-7, they must be understaffed as I have had to do my own maintenance on several occasions. For instance, I needed a new filter for the vent in my dining room and rather then install it, they left it at my front door for me to do (this might also be because they are afraid of my dog who is was in his kennel at the time). Additionally, I had a crack in my wall that was not repaired correctly and when I asked the old maintenance man to redo it he gave me the spackle and paint to do it myself...I should not be expected to do this.

Overall, I have enjoyed the year or so I have lived here thus far...it is not a bad place and I have recommended it before. My advice to the bitter reviewers on this site is to suck it up and be grateful for where you are. I have lived in a neighborhood filled with HOC housing before, and this community is FAR FAR from that.

I agree with you.But not all Housing Of choice (voucher) people are bad either! Let's not forget with the economy,many hardworking good people find they need assistance right now.It is nothing to be ashamed of and they shouldn't be looked down on for that.Columbia is very expensive.
