Good Lord...what were we thinking' From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 11/5/2006 Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006   After two months I'm counting the days until I am rid of this place. My story just got worse and worse, so read on to the end of this review or you will not hear the worst of it. My roommate and I moved in here in August, and somehow we were the only people in columbia who didn't know that this is the worst place imaginable to live. We used to complain that when we moved in they didn't give us the free accent wall we signed up for. I wish that was all we could complain about now. For starters, the neighbors are as sketchy as can be. They hang out around parked cars and in dark recesses of the parkig lot under the cover of night doing god knows what. My mom came to visit me and said that in the parking lot she met someone who introduced himself to her as the "street captain". Charming. Upstairs our neighbors seem to alternate between having falling down contests, and playing music loud enough to hurt my ears downstairs. I would pound on the ceiling, which usually triggered a shower of plaster. They usually stopped for a few minutes, then picked up again loud as ever. Still, all that was just a minor inconvenience. I would have to say that the tipping point for me was when they broke into our apartment, through my room, and stole everything that is dear to me. They came in through my window, and apparently went straight for the kitchen where they grabbed really sharp knives that they left on the ground by the door as they left. They got over $4,000 of my most important belongings: computer and camera equipment that I need for school and my occasional photography customers. When the police came they said "Didn't anyone tell you this is a bad area'" Well, apparently everyone but me knew. Reading these other reviews makes me sick to think that I ever thought it was an okay place to live. It was our own stupid decision to move here and one that I am not proud of. THere's plenty of other places in columbia to live. Don't even bother with this one.
