Grand Pointe

Awful From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 1/13/2007 Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007   I moved to Grand Pointe in August from New York. The staff was very friendly, but all but refused to let me see the actual apartment I was moving into before signing the lease. This right here should have sent up a red flag. The apartment was a mess, I noted every detail on the move-in sheet, and they are still getting around to repairs. The trash room and laundry room on my floor has roaches. It took almost 3 months to even get a key for the trash room. The utilities are ridiculous. I pay very little for electricity, but we are charged for gas, water, and trash two weeks at a time. I don't mean we pay twice a month, we are just now receiving the bill for the end of October. When you move out, you get screwed into paying for almost 5-6 months of service at once. The bills are outrageous. My heat was not working until the beginning of December, and I paid $75 for utilities for the first two weeks of October. And when I called for them to repair the heat, on a day when it was almost freezing outside, they took hours to even show up & I had to keep calling every hour, on the hour. My fiance and I are counting the days until our lease is up and are analyzing and researching apartment reviews obsessively in the hopes that we do not get stuck with such a crapshoot again. Their security is bogus. The side door does not even lock & the gaurds just sit around in the lobby. I even had one hit on me. I work evenings and when I get home, I have my fiance walk me in because of the sketchy people hanging outside and in the lobby. I would not recommend this slum to anyone. I thought Columbia was a nice area when I moved here.
