I currently live in Huntington Downs Apartments and wish, every day, that I didnt. Unfortunately, my circumstances at the time that I signed the lease prevented me from choosing a better, or should I say safer, place to live. On my 2nd night in the apartment, someone smashed my car windshield. I was told by a fellow neighbor that it was NOT a rare occurrence for cars to be vandalized in that complex. I was told the opposite by the leasing office manager. When I did my pre-move in inspection, I found many maintenance problems with the apartment, many of which are still yet to resolved (Ive been there for almost 4 months). In the summertime, many kids/teenagers loiter in the hallways, often late at night, talking very loud so that everyone in the building can hear their conversations. When I returned home a few weeks ago from a business trip (at night), I was walking up to my apartment and witnessed a minivan pulling into the parking lot, a teenage boy walked up to the drivers side briefly (there was some sort of exchange), and then the van pulled away. If that wasnt a drug deal, I dont know what is. The lighting in the parking lots and the surrounding neighborhood is extremely poor and there are empty beer cans in the bushes. For the amount of rent that the tenants pay each month, youd think wed be living in a ritzy place. Were basically paying "Caviar" prices for "SPAM" apartments. I will definitely NOT be renewing my lease next year.

i lived @ huntington downs for nearly 3 years. (2004-2007) i was new to the md-area and just didnt know better. i too, suffered 'windshield' damage on a vehicle i owned. both front AND rear windshields. mgmt was totally ... unconcerned & unphased when i mentioned it/inquired about similar crimes. (the apt mgr lackadaisically said that they had no cameras in the parking lots & could not "catch" the culprit - wtf!? but i do believe she admitted that such a thing may have happened once or twice in the past - rarely - but was probably the act of 'teenagers' that didnt even live in the complex.)
i found the staff to be ... liars. unprofessional liars. they never returned a phone call and seemed to totally lack any problem solving skills that an 8 year old has developed.
i moved out april 2007 - i have yet to see my deposit returned to me – or an explanation itemizing why it has not been. the one bright spot was that the maintenance staff was professional, courteous and timely.
fortunately i had a layoff and got the fudge out of huntington. if ur smart, u would never move there...
