Be sure to check Howard County's police reports before moving in here - you can just do a Google search for "8700 Cloudleap Ct" in quotes (and then click "repeat the search with the omitted results included"), keeping in mind that some of these incidents are at the shopping center up the street. Safety's started to be a serious problem - with several burglaries, car thefts and a few other incidents - and much worse stuff going on nearby. Apartment management hasn't hired any security or done anything other than send us all notes saying that we should watch out for one another - and this place does not feel safe.

There are a number of trashed, broken-into vehicles sitting in the parking lot, including a BMW Z3 that looks very much out of place. It's unclear where they were broken into or why the owners haven't fixed them.

Shortly after moving in I discovered that the people who moved in above me loved to play music - loud - all hours of the night. Noise is a serious problem here - both normal noise from people walking around above and abnormal noise from people blasting their stereos in the parking lot. The walls are paper-thin.

There doesn't seem to be much screening on potential residents, either. Recently I've noticed at least one multi-resident apartment that I believe to be filled with people unknown to management - likely illegal - which wouldn't be a big deal or even that unusual except at least one of these folks is not inconspicuous but the worst sort of neighbor imaginable. I won't elaborate, since I still live here.

There are problems in any apartment, but I've lived in way better places. I just don't get the impression that management here is proactively going out of their way to solve them. This place is going to lose all its better neighbors by attrition. I guess it must be the rent, which is low these days, and the area, which is a little dicey although I didn't know that moving in.
