Thin walls and bad staff

02/09/2009 I must say that Poplar Glen USED TO be great.

The reason for this is that the old staff has left (--------- and ---) and the new, hard selling, rude staff has taken over (-----<--she might be okay, ----- and -----).

--- and --------- were the best and one of the reasons why I enjoyed Poplar Glen.

They departed in NOV-DEC of 2008.

They were kind and most importantly -- professional.

They knew how to speak to potential and current clientele.

Biggest loss to Poplar Glen.

I was hoping that one of them could stay to become an equalizer for any other property managers.

but that was not the case.

Now, that we have ----- the "Rude" and ----- the "just sign the lease" we are in for a long 12 months.

Then I am outta here.

Besides the terrible staff, the walls here are paper thin.

I thought having a private foyer would be great but that is not the case.

When someone rings the doorbell in the apartment across from me, my daughter asks for me to get the door.

I tell her that it is NOT OUR apartment but the neighbor's.

When people are in the foyer talking and I am talking on the phone, the person I am talking to on the phone says, "oh you have guests'".

I'm like, "No, it's people talking in the hallway".

The person on the phone was embarrassed for me.

The Bluffs Apartments down the street are cheaper and have better material because it has brick.

Which i believe is a great sound barrier so keep that in mind when apt shopping.

I would not recommend the Bluffs at Clarys Forest though--> very bad maintenance staff (ex-cons i think).

And the Henderson_Webb is notorious.

Okay, I just shared my bad experience with you.

Let's move onto the good stuff.

Layout:
I think the layout is great for a one or even a 2 bedroom apartment.

The closets are spacious for each room and the kitchen is nice.

The floors are vinyl that mimic wood grain.

Nice touch to the apartment.

You will see this at the small space at front door, bathroom and kitchen.

It boasts a ceiling fan and inside washer dryer.

Parking:
Is ample.

Depends on which building you live in though.

I see people parking 2 buildings down sometime.

So it depends on which building and what time you come home.

Pet Policy:
$125 deposit for one pet / $100 deposit for additional pet.

Breed restrictions apply.

Maintenance:
Maintenance is as only as good as the maintenance personnel and I must say they are GREAT! Don't know how long they will stay with the current property managers though.

They miss --------- and ---.

If there is an issue with an appliance or anything they respond quickly and fix it right the first time.

Very helpful.

Grounds:
Very nice.

No complaints and no weeds.

Yes!

Amenities:
The rental office will sign for your packages and you can pick them up there.

There is a neighborhood pool across the street that is great.

Go to Columbia Association for a membership to it.

Its cheaper if you frequent the pool.

Very nice for kids and adults.

They are getting a grill section soon.

You will pay about $140 for Electric and pay about $15 above your rent for trash/water for a one bedroom and i guess a little higher for a 2 bedroom.

Just call BG&E and they will tell you what the average cost is.

If you can get past the rude staff and bad building material (noisy and bad insulation - can get cold in winter) then you are good to go.

Enjoy!

MAN.... Do I agree with you!!!! I currently live there now and I've lived there back in 04-06 and trust me that was SWEET back then! I REALLY enjoyed the Office Staff before the ones we have now, they basically tried to push me off with whatever problems I may have. ---... I tell you she GAVE me a discount on my rent (100 off a month) just because we were there before (04-06)!!! I ask the current office that and they just said NO, there was no explaination no nothing. She wanted to tell me that they have rent that differs from day to day so me and my wife said the hell with it and are leaving in the spring. We already turned in our papers. I c---ot stand the 'rock band' office staff that has over taken the community now! This is such a quiet neighborhood and my kids enjoy it alot but now... its all going to come down hill VERY soon. Especially with the jump in rent. -------- and --- they committed to making activities for the apartment complex and made an attempt to remember our names and our kids names! I overheard the office staff talking and they told the maintenance staff that they have to RE-APPLY for the NEW company!!! Vic has been here FOREVER!!! That makes no sense to make someone that does a GREAT job to re-apply and compete with other maintenance workers. He goes beyond and above than any other worker I've seen! Sad... I tell ya.

I think that you may be right about the office staff. They don't seem to use good business practices. I filled out an application for an apartment that I was told was "unavailable to view" because it was being repainted/recarpeted etc. I got a chance to see a "model" and thought it looked nice. Come to find out... the apartment was still occupied by a tenant on a month-to-month and they decided to stay. They were trying to get me to sign a lease and everything. Is this good business practice? Do you tell applicants that there are vacant apartments and have them fill out paperwork if they are still occupied? How can you sign a lease if it is still occupied? Anyway, they gave me back my application fee ONLY because I complained and brought along a loud-mouth friend of mine. BE CAREFUL!!! ASK TO SEE THE APARTMENT before paying application fee and filling out paperwork!!!

Absolutely on the money!! This community has gone down since I moved in 2 years ago. The office staff is horrendous, If Bozzuto wants to maintain their reputation as one the premier management companies in Maryland, they need to replace their staff.
