One of the better choices in Columbia

There are a lot of apartments to choose from in Columbia so I hope this helps! We have been in Columbia for 2 years now, and the first year we lived in Autumn Crest which was AWFUL- believe every bad thing you read about them. Including my post (we were the ones that got sued! "Paperwork mix-up" they called it). Anyway we've been at TM for almost a year in a 1br and it has been a vast improvement. Really you pay for what you get, so I recommend not paying any less than $1100 for an apartment in Columbia, you'll regret it. And if it looks shady on the outside, it's going to be a crappy apartment...
Pros:
-renovated apartments, new appliances, countertops, cabinets that look really good
-huge deck
-tons of storage
-big bathroom with really long counter
-full size washer and dryer
-nice lighting, none of that ugly fluorescent
-nice pool and pretty decent gym for a quick workout
-plenty of parking, I know that was an issue in other posts, maybe it's just where we're located but it has never been a problem
-lots of light so it's not like living in a dank hole like Autumn Crest
- ok you can hear the people upstairs, but it's not nearly as bad as other places I've been. What do you expect in apartment living' We hardly notice...
-staff: Nikki is in charge and she is awesome. She definitely follows the rules which makes her a good manager. And Dave is on maintenance and is the nicest guy! He came and fixed our AC 5 minutes after we reported a problem, and he wasn't even on duty. Alex is great too, he checked on our apartment while we were away for 2 weeks.
-NO BUGS- that was my big thing moving, I couldn't take the bugs anymore. We've had some moths, that's it.
Cons:
-really drafty since there are 2 sliding glass doors and a huge window
-noisy if you are near Tamar Dr.
-smokers! practically our entire complex smokes, so if you want to go out and enjoy your nice big deck, or even open your windows, it sucks if your neighbor is a smoker.
-a mouse or two. I'm not gonna lie, it's an apartment and when it's 20 degrees outside, mice can find their way in. Maintenance helped us out with some traps and we caught two mice. That was the extent of it...lesson learned-don't leave your cereal boxes outside of the cabinet.
-yappy dogs and a stupid neighbor that lights up from 6am till 11pm...but that's just our problem I guess...
We had to decide between this place and the slightly cheaper Sherwood Crossing (also a pretty good place), but we went with this place because it looked nicer and had a full size washer and dryer, and we haven't regretted it! Also our rent only went up $33 a month for the next leasing year.
Good luck!

Wow, thanks for being so honest. I move in next month and I was so scared about this place until I read your review and I realize, you are so honest and that's what people need when they are looking for a new place. I met Nikki and Alex and I agree they are awesome. So far, so good. I will post something once I move in and give my opinion of the complex. Thanks again.
