To echo a few other reviewers on this site, I was also told by Tamar Meadow's management that it is standard practice to send final bills to collection agencies before sending the bills to the former tenants (and before sending the tenants the security deposit and accompanying paperwork). It's a ludicrous policy, and one that should give pause to anyone thinking of living at Tamar, because it's directly in line with the treatment you'll receive from most (but not all) of the office workers, as well as the management company (UDR). In my experience, they're quick to bully their tenants for questionable charges, and sending it to collections is one of their favorite methods. On the whole, I found the management to be incompetent, unresponsive, disingenuous, and unprofessional.
The maintenance crew, on the other hand, was usually pretty responsive and competent. No complaints there. But the actual facilities were lacking. We kept our place spotless, yet we were constantly battling roaches (this was also the case for our neighbors, so it's not a coincidence). The management claimed that they sprayed once a month, but if they did, it was completely ineffective. The parking situation was generally terrible. They'll be sure to tell you on the tour that there are plenty of spaces, but they don't tell you that the spaces are laid out in a way that you'll end up walking to your apartment from the other side of the complex every night. Also, they have two (2) dumpster locations for the entire complex, which means that you could easily be stuck walking across the complex every time you take out the trash (some people actually drive to the dumpsters; either way, it's a pain). There are no pet stations (or there weren't when I lived there), so look forward to walking to the dumpster for that, too. Oh, and they'll threaten to charge you for leaving trash on your doorstep, or for leaving things on your balcony, etc. In my experience, they spend a lot of time trying to nickel and dime their tenants.
I didn't meet one tenant at Tamar Meadow who had anything positive to say about the management. I can't explain how happy I was to move out. I would recommend that you avoid moving in.
