Don't believe everything you read on this site

I feel like most of the people who post on these websites are those who have bad experiences and come here merely to vent their frustrations. The majority of satisfied renters have no reason to come back to this site. The only reason I am writing is because I almost didn't live here because of these reviews, and I am so glad I did not listen to them. Now, this does not mean I'm saying Tamar Meadow is perfect at all, like any any place that is a rental, it has its imperfections.
1. The apartments - they are decent. The decks are huge, the biggest I found in my apartment search. You can actually eat meals and entertain on them. We have a full size washer and dryer in the unit and little conveniences like a disposal and ice maker in the refrigerator. Fixtures are newer and building quality seems average. We hear noises once in a while, but what apartment complex is completely sound proof'
2. The rent - if you want to get a 1 BR/ 1 Bath that is decent in Columbia, you are going to pay over $1000 a month. Yes - it's expensive, you are looking at one of the most expensive areas of the country. Hardly any apartment complexes in this area include any utilities in the rent. The company that owns this property lets you pay your rent through their website, which is very convenient.
3. The community - It's quiet and there seem to be a lot of young professionals living here. There is hardly ever anyone at the pool and the lifeguard seems to keep it clean. The grounds are well maintained. There has been some construction, but that is because they just put in FIOS. I have not encountered or heard of any crime. This does not mean there is NO crime. But, Columbia is densely populated and like any area like this, there is always going to be some.
4. The staff - Maintenance is a little bit slow, but they do complete the work. You can submit maintenance requests online and you even get an email after they have been completed. The leasing staff is small and they seem overwhelmed at times. If you are waiting on something, they are polite, but will sometimes string you along.
Overall, I am very content and enjoy living at Tamar Meadow and would recommend it to others looking for apartments in Columbia.
