Expensive But Very Convenient

I'm a fed who moved here when I changed locations within my agency several years ago. I selected Keswick because Crofton is in Anne Arundel County (doesn't border DC), the apartment has outside private entrances, it's a 20 minute drive to my job and because a friend lived in another Bozzuto run apartment complex in Frederick, MD and had a nice place. Within 1 mile of the complex are 2 supermarkets, a K-Mart, a gym, banks, doctor's offices, a library and several fast food places. There is a movie theater in the next town as well as a large outdoor mall. They keep the grounds nice but if you are used to outdoor quiet, it's noisy in the winter when all of the leaves are off the trees if you live near the road. There is an elementary school across the street but it's not an issue at all. There are sidewalks and a crossing guard on the corner when school is in session. The apartments themselves are as noisy as any other apartment complex I've lived in. If you have good neighbors who don't blast their stereo or let their pets run around above you, it's fine. Maintenance enters your apartment for pest control and to check the fireplace. The fire department also comes in to check the smoke detector and your storage area. They usually give you a few days advanced notice. I don't take advantage of the activities but they have quite a few and what's really nice is the office will accept UPS packages for you if you aren't home. The rent is high but that is true for this entire area, not just for Keswick as you will find out if you are apartment hunting. You can have your rent automatically deducted from your bank account, if you like. I've never had to wait for maintenance assistance. When it snows, they plow the lot but then you have to dig your car out. This is true for all complexes I have ever lived in. I feel safe coming home alone in the early hours of the morning both in the apartment complex and the town. Washer/Dryers are in the apartment unit --a big plus. Water and sewer is extra. You have a heat pump and an electric stove. It's about 16 miles to the New Carrollton train station (subway) and you can get the above ground train to DC in Bowie, the adjacent town to Crofton. Going to the airport (BWI)is a breeze and is about 14 miles from Keswick. If you have to commute to DC, this is a good choice.
