I need to know. I am seriously considering living here and I need to make sure it is a safe place for my wife and kids. I have read so many apartment reviews that include conflicts with roaches, armed robbery, vehicle theft... I cannot put my family in that kind of area. Thank you for your time.

Hi lchris1, yes the area is really safe and a great place to raise a family. I am about to move out of the complex in the next few weeks but would recommend it to anyone. I have not had any issues with bugs outside of the occasional cricket or spider. No vehicle theft, but there were a few car break-ins a couple of months back in the surrounding area (not the complex). They do encourage you to lock all doors. That's to be expected anywhere you go! The floors are ridiculously loud and so if your children are small and very playful, it may annoy the neighbor below you to hear them running around. Other than that, it's really one of the better places I've lived - as far as area is concerned.

I lived at NorthForest for 2 years (2004-2005) and only moved away because my wife and I relocated to Baltimore. Our time therewas great. The staff wasc ourteous always, and any problems we had were dealt with quickly. One encounter comes to mind: Our heater conked out at about 10pm on a Saturday night. We call the emergency maintenance line and left a message about our situation. We fully expected to wait until Monday before the matter would be fixed. We were wrong. Around 11pm, a maintenance worker showed up and spent an hour plus troubleshooting and then successfully fixing the problem. She clearly had been woken up and told to go and fix our problem. She did it with a smile and explained that it was her job to be responsive to the residents promptly. I was extremely impressed. The neighborhood is great for kids. There are two schools nearby that rank among the best in Maryland. Shopping, dining and entertainment are a quick 5 minute drive away. Crofton's location is also ideal. It is about a half hour from DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore. Ihighly recommend it and actually tried to move back thre this past week, but there was a waiting list. Good luck!

I have lived at NF for several years. It is a nice area. There have been several cars broken into, but it is sporadic. I had mine broken into and a radio stolen, didn't get much support from mgmt. New neighbors had moved in about 6 mths ago, both of their vehicles were broken into and tv's, gps systems stolen. The apartments are nice, but mgmt and quality are going downhill fast. The dumpsters are not being emptied and are constantly overflowing, and the tops are hanging off or broken and fall inside the dumpster. Repeated calls to mgmt go unheeded. The service team,,haha if you can call them that are very unexeperienced and it takes several times to get it right unless you can be there and hold their hand and tell them how to do it. I usually fix it myself if at all possible, so I don't have them coming in and dirtying my floors, did I say they don't clean up after themselves? The pool, well the pool bottom is settling or something and is not even. There are pieces of concrete that tear up your feet, and people are getting hurt in there because of the dips in the bottom. Mgmt remedy? they have the life guards stick some putty on the areas, that really does no good. When the pool was drained in the spring would have been a good time for said repairs. Some of the buildings are nicer than others, being mine has ghetto tenants that always leave their nasty clothes in the washer, unwashed or washed or the dryer. Their apartment reeks and it is filthy, but nothing is done to them. Good luck with what you decide
