Sometimes in life you have to do what you have to do

I have been living here since April 2006 - when I first rolled on the scene to check out the apartments I said to myself the comples can use some cleaning up and I can tell that Maintaince is a slacker just from the looks of what I saw...When I walked into the Rental Office I was greeted with a professional matter even though the lady was dealing with about 2 other people at the same time...so I patiently waited for her to finish up, once she was finished she begin to help me, in a matter of 30 mintues I had filled my application out and told I would hear from them about approval in 2 days or less...I left and rode around towards the back - now my first thought in seeing the back was if I am approved I hope they don't put me back here - because Trash was hanging out of the Trash Cans - I mean litterally in the middle of the street -however you could tell that some parents have unruly children who will do the wildest thing - Like take the trash out and toss the trash from the middle of the street to the trash bin, knowing good and well that the trash bag wont make it, however they choose to leave it where it fell....Anyhoo, as promised I heard back from they saying I was approved - Great got my move in date and was set.
On my move in date, I came to sign the lease was greeted by the same young lady and told the bldg I would reside in...Well low and behold the building was in the back - I asked at my lease signing if I could be moved up front and she said they didn't have anymore apartments available at the time, however I could wait until next month and move in because a 2 bedroom will be available then - I decided to pass on that and go with the back - Let me say this that was the best choice I made - Yes, I am in the back, however I have nothing but peace and quiet in my building..the grounds need a lot of work -0 however that is not my concern because the inside of my home doesn't look like that.
I have a spacious 2 bedroom apartment with a HUGE WALK IN CLOSET that will hold all my clothes.
The downfall of the apartment complex is this: When I first moved in I did inspection of my apartment wrote down all I needed/wanted to by fixed (which was done that same day I moved in, however maintaince needs to be taught how to properly do maintaince because they suck in that department) - Now on my first night there I didn't move anything in yet...My family and I grab some blankets and pillows and enjoyed an empty apartment for the night...Well during that night I found myself killing ROACH after ROACH - feeling like ohhh no I done messed up - I don't and never have lived with Roaches in all the apartments I had I have never lived with Roaches and I wont start now.....Needless to say First thing the next morning before I moved anything in the apartment I was at the Rental Office complaining about the Roaches........I told them either fix the problem or I want my money back and I will take them to court for my money because the lease says no rodents or roaches are on the premises - however they didn't relaize that they were dealing with a person who knows her rights.....After me telling them what I was experienceing and needs to be done of give me back all my money - I mean even my Application Fee - I told them they have 2 hours flat to get things in order.....
When I came back, my apartment had been bombed, cleaned free of roaches, they also went as far to provide me with some Roach Gel that works really good,
I was impressed becasue I talked to them, no threats were made in me telling them I would take them to court, I was merely telling them my right as a renter for the apartment.
Would I recommend Pennbrooke to someone - Of course, However I would ask them what are their intentions....meaning is this just a spot to have until you get your house - if the answer is YES - then by all means move in because the rent is affordable - however I would make Pennbrooke my home for the rest of my life.
