After several years, so glad to be gone!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
The incompetent office staff lost our rent check and blamed it on the mailman. They didn't tell us until it was way past the "sent to collections" date and now on our credit report. Other places I've stayed at would call you & ask what's up when you've always been on time. They also do every little dirty trick in the book when it comes to nickel & diming you.
For about three months, maintenance was in our house at least once a week. Light bulbs, inspections, filters...DO IT ALL AT ONCE! They also did not show up on the day they said they were coming. So, you would put the pets in a separate room (required by OC) complete with litter box, food, water, etc. and then have to do it several times that week because they didn't show up.
When we moved out, they screwed us on our deposit. We took immaculate care of the apartment and even made minor repairs. We left it in better condition than when we arrived. They charged us to replace the carpet claiming stains. Which is interesting, because the pics I took don't show any. I'd fight it, but I just want to write this review and forget this nightmare happened. The stress is not worth the money.
Rather than properly fix things, they just paint over everything - walls, countertops, even the insides of the sinks.
The paint they use on the countertops stains and I question whether it is safe to put food on it.
The pics online are misleading. The pool looks olympic in size, but when you actually see it in person, you see its about the size of a kiddie pool. They used a fisheye lens for the pictures to distort the images...clever...and dirty.
The 'gym' is abysmal. It contains a treadmill, a recumbent bike, a rower, and a mult-exercise weight machine. All of which are about 10 years old and were cheap quality when purchased. It looks like the stuff you find at the dumpster or at yard sales. Also, the hours you are allowed to use it are useless 8am or 9am till 10pm or something. So if you workout in the morning, forget it. I never saw anyone use it...ever.
The rent kept rising. We picked OC because it allowed pets & was cheaper than Columbia. You may as well go to Columbia now and pay a little more to be in an area with shops & such. There is virtually NOTHING within walking distance of OC except houses.
On a positive note, when staff wasn't constantly in your life, it was a nice neighborhood with great sidewalks to take a dog for a walk or run. Plenty of parking. Allows pets (with appropriate fees). Had AC & WD. Maintenance staff is nice.
I'd give it less stars, but the stupid website won't work with my browser & I can't adjust the stars.
