One Bedroom

I live in a second floor one-bedroom. It's a fine place to live if you just need a place to live...but if you want a value, choose someplace else.
Windsor apartments here consist of a large main room--on the floor plan it is considered two rooms: living and dining, although there really isn't a good way to split it up--and one or more bedrooms. My bedroom has a walk-in closet, which is nice. There is also a coat closet and a closet hiding the washer/dryer unit and water heater. That is the extent of storage space. The bathrooms serve their function without any added amenities, and the kitchens are little more than two parallel rows of cabinets and the standard appliances. If slight noise from neighbors bothers you, you shouldn't be looking at apartments anyway. I have had very few problems with loud or obnoxious noise from neighbors, although I have had downstairs neighbors complain that they can hear my dog walking around...as if I should forbid him from moving. While sound carries from upper apartments, next door, and outside, it is not unbearable.
That being said, for similar money, you could find a place with separate dining and living rooms, a terrace, a decent kitchen, and a generally nicer finished look. Especially in Columbia, where your apartment complex is adjacent to a shopping/community area. Here, the location isn't miles out of the way, but there is nothing within a short walk but Trucking/Shipping facilities and junk yards. I appreciate easy acces to I-95 and a place to lay my head...the pool, while nice is of no use because it opens after I leave for work, and generally closes before I get home. The gym is pretty much half-a**ed. Since parking is not limited by passes or assigned spaces, it fluctuates from adequate to poor. It is often hard to find a spot reasonably close to my door when so many residents have multiple vehicles. While the community may be great for some, I find that most of my neighbors are here today, gone tomorrow. Aside from the maintenance man downstairs and an old woman, I think I'm the only person who's been in this building more than one year. Many folks here are foreign or do not associate with others, and as a young, single man, I don't see nearly enough young, attractive women.
I have had only one problem with the leasing office, due to poor communication on their part. In other matters, they have been prompt and helpful. Maintenance staff is competent and timely.
When you consider what you're paying out, Windsor doesn't seem to be much of a value. I'm sure they price the apartments at what the market can bear, but in this area, the market generally offers more than Pine Ridge. You can find a better value a few miles away.
