I was spoiled by this first apartment....

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002
I moved in December of 2000. There was a minor mixup about us seeing our apartment. This was due to an office staff member that was inept (no longer there). However, Samantha Collins was very helpful. She sorted things out despite not knowing me & my roommate had an appointment. She showed us several apartments. She isn't what I would call chipper but she did her job well.
We moved in. The apartment was in great condition. They had just replaced the carpets & flooring. During our two year stay at Iron Ridge we only needed to call maintenance once. That is because our cat chewed on a plastic tube to the hot water tank. Maintenance was excellent. The guy was there within 24 hours to fix the problem. The office left you alone.
My only issues were:
1) Rent - you could only submit one check (meaning I had to pay my roommate and have him pay the apartment complex)
2) Swimming Pool - I think you only were only allowed the occupants for free. Kids were 3.00 other adults were 4.00. If i remember right. I have a niece & a sister that i took swimming. And i learned this rule the hardway.
3) There were quite a few college kids moving in. They & their friends took up quite a few of the parking spots. The college neighbors backing up against my bedroom wall would play loud music. Not just moderately loud but really loud. Other than that one inconsiderate jerk, Noise was not really an issue. You barely heard people walking around on the 2nd floor. You would only hear the kids running up the stairs.
4) After the first lease is up, you automatically renew for another 12 months. In addition, the rent increases $10.00/mnth
5) Ants were a problem in the summer. But a few ant traps really takes care of the problem. THERE WERE NO ROACHES OR MICE.
There is a lot of geese in the fall/spring. They are territorial too.
Pet Deposit was $300.00 refundable $10/mth added to rent.
I just recently found out that 2 bedroom/2 bath roommate apartment that I had... is now $825.00/month. Pretty high for Elkton standards.
It was not until I moved into my new apartment in Delaware, that I realized how good it was at Iron Ridge. If you have no issue with paying the new high rent.. it's a great place to live.
