As good as it gets

I've lived at Pine Valley for 6 months. So far it has been a great experience. Other ratings have mentioned "missing" options that the model had but their apartment did not. I asked to see the exact unit I would get and I was allowed to inspect before signing the lease. Anyone who complains about the price doesn't know how to negotiate or doesn't understand that an apartment with the features that Pine Valley has are very few and far between. I moved here from the suburbs of Philly where an apartment of this size would easily cost twice as much and not include things like in unit washer and dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal or fireplace. Plus the appliances are all new or almost new. Not to mention the garage. Every unit has it's own 1 or 2 car garage with automatic door opener. This is a quiet place. There are a few kids who walk and ride bikes around the streets but they all seem well behaved. Neighbors are friendly. They will say hi while they are out for a walk but mostly stay to themselves. Management has been good to us from the beginning. They made the process easy and have always been friendly when we need something. Maintenance is good. The biggest problem we've had was a birds nest in our dryer exhaust causing the dryer to overheat. I called at 12:30 it was fixed by 4:00. So here's the wrap up. Pine Valley is a clean, quiet place to live. The price is good for the quality. Move here if you want: Clean apartment, quiet living, secure garage. Look elswhere if you want: basic low price apartment, party environment, 5 car parking. As with any apartment you should ask a lot of questions. Price, pet policy, utilities etc. Always shop around before signing anything anywhere. Research is the key to making good decisions.

Edit 7/10/08:

I have now lived here for 3 years. Everything I said in my original review still stands. I love it here. No one bothers us. The biggest inconvenience has been the maintenance people coming in to inspect the fire sprinklers. But, we were given about 7 to 10 days notice that they were coming. Management is good about notifying us about any maintenance issues, such as the changing of furnace filters, or anything else that may be an inconvenience. There is a monthly newsletter that is hand delivered to every apartment and if something else comes up, they notify you in plenty of time. There are several Police Officers and Sheriffs who live here and I feel safe at all times. But, I'm a pretty big guy who feels safe almost anywhere. My Girlfriend is not big at all and she walks around the complex and has never had any issues. Everyone is friendly and if they say anything, it is a quick hello and then they leave you alone. I have left my car in the driveway with the windows down and I have left the garage door open all night with no issues. I don't suggest this in any area but I have not had any issues here. The complaints about the trash situation are somewhat valid. There is only 1 trash drop off for the entire complex. But, it's not a huge complex and it is easy enough to walk or drive the trash to the compactor. I have never had an issue with the trash situation. I come from suburbs that were close to Philly. I had much bigger issues living in a house there than my apartment here. Even now, when I go back to Philly to visit I can't wait to come home where it is quiet. I can pull my car into my garage or driveway and not worry about it and then go to sleep. I'm sure that there are buildings here where the neighbors are loud at times or do laundry late at night but that happens. People have different schedules and need to do things at certain hours to live their lives. If you can't handle these inconsistencies, move to a house where they won't be an issue. I think the people who complain about this complex either have really bad tempers or they wrote their reviews after a particular bad experience. I myself have nothing bad to say. In short, this is a great complex and I would, and have, recommended it to others who are looking to move to this area. If there was a place like this near Philly I might move back there. But, there isn't. I stay here because I like where I live.
